Official Judges Critique

Judging:

Yorkshire Afghan Hound Society. Judge Wendy Cain ‘Kutani’

Such a pleasure to judge Afghans again and I was interested to see if there were any dramatic changes from last time I judged, pleased to say the breed is in excellent standing.

My one gripe is that a lot of dogs had a weakness in hocks, driving off from cow hocks instead of parallel hocks, which made movement erratic to say the least. Shoulder, upper arm placements were super on the whole but not always a matching rear end which in some were rather over angulated and presented and unbalanced outline.  Teeth and bites were immaculate.  My two CC winners were outstanding, thank you for bringing them under me, both gave me shivers watching their movements.  Later I was told of the breeding of the BIS winner and it made me very emotional. I present my critique not as negative in some cases but as helpful
