HOUND GROUP.      -      WINDSOR

It was a lovely group with many beautiful hounds…….I shortlisted eight,  PBGV,  Basset Hound,  Beagle, Bloodhound,  W/H Dachshund,  Greyhound, Saluki,  & the Whippet.  All super dogs.

My winner was Harding & Cowley’s  CH. CLASSICUS  ODYSSEUS  AT  ASHAHNI,  the gorgeous Saluki.  For me he stole the show !  He has attitude and showmanship in bucket loads that I’ve not often seen in this breed.  Masculine throughout with a super head shape & dignified expression,  his long neck flowed into well laid shoulders following through to excellent body proportions and sound hindquarters.  Just the right amount of feathering.  His free flowing movement was powerful yet graceful, he has reach & drive and is beautifully balanced both stacked & on the move, super boy.

Second to him was the Beagle,  Parker & Stevens’  CH. SERENAKER  ARMANI,  lovely compact boy, full of quality, loved his head and appealing expression from those beautiful dark eyes,  good reach of neck & sound front assembly,  well bodied with good spring of rib &  short loin.  He has good muscling in his quarters that enabled him to drive around the ring.  His outline is balanced and he held it whilst moving completing the picture.

Third was the impressive W/H Dachshund,  Phillips’  CH. ROYAL PEPPER’S  VICE  VERSA (Imp.Fin.)  this boy is out of the top drawer,  he has such a lovely outline and his movement is totally parallel fore & aft.  Not too big with loads of quality,  super head & expression,  immaculate forehand with good forechest & depth of keel,  tight elbows, ribbing carried well back,  muscular quarters with just the right amount of turn of stifle,  lovely well presented harsh coat.

Fourth was the Basset Hound,  Blevins’  BLEVWIL KENNY DEWITT (Cen JW, Cen W). Stylish boy with lots of quality.  Masculine head with correct eye shape and the right amount of haw, deep lip and well placed leathers of correct length,  His neck flows into well laid shoulders,  he has a neat sound front with tight elbows, good pro-sternum & depth of keel,  smooth deep ribcage carried back, strong quarters.   His outline is balanced both stacked & on the move, effortless action with good drive.
