UK TOY DOG SOCIETY CHAMPIONSHIP SHOW

I thoroughly enjoyed my day judging at this prestigious show and would like to thank the committee for inviting me to judge my first Stakes classes at their Championship Show, and the exhibitors for their wonderful entry, giving me the opportunity to evaluate some lovely dogs, champions and future champions I am sure.

PUPPY STAKES

Class 373 AVTMPB (19 Entries) 
1st: 567 DIXON, Mrs Lisa Jane & DIXON, Mr Graeme Lasagesse Black Magic Woman, ETT, although only just 6 months she is full of promise, a picture of elegance both standing and on the move, feminine head with dark almond shaped eyes, well placed pointed ears high set into correctly balanced head with tapering muzzle, graceful neck set into well laid shoulders and gently curving backline, she moved out with purpose exhibiting correct extended trot action, could not go past her.
2nd: 649 SUGGITT, Mrs Amanda Aptrick Dolly Mixtures, Griffon Bruxellois, an attractive youngster,  harshly coated, she is compact and cobby with correct bone, fairly large head of good width, well placed dark round eyes which are full of mischief, wide muzzle and jaw with correct turn up. Moved true coming and going.
3rd: 1189 D'ARCY, Mrs Paulette & DUFFIELD, Mr Nigel Paavali's Shadow Heart,Pom

Class 374 AVTPB (15 Entries) 
1st: 685 RENDELL, Mrs Sarah Wizzizz Moonlight, Havanese, a close decision between these two, the winner was not as mature in body or coat as the lovely CDT who stood second, but on the day she just had the edge on movement. She is well balanced, with gentle feminine expression, dark eyes, moderate neck, has the required body length with slight rise over loin.
2nd: 545 MURDOCH, Mr Jim Valeast Jubilee Queen for Cotonalba, CDT, loved this bitch, immaculately presented clear white, coat of correct texture, enhanced by her dense black pigmentation. I loved her size, and balance with moderate rise to her gently curving topline. Just lost out to winner as a little close in front coming back, sure as she matures this will improve, certainly one I shall watch.
3rd: 1381 RUTHERFORD, Miss H & RUTHERFORD, Mrs Catherine Potbelli Alone Again,Pug

Class 375 AVTMPD (19 Entries)
1st: 174 INGLIS, Mrs Norma & INGLIS, Mr Gordon Verheyen Reacher at Craigowl, CKCS, delighted to be able to handle this promising youngster, for me he is the correct size with good bone, just love his soft gentle expression from those dark round melting eyes, perfectly balanced head with moderate stop, his body is well ribbed with level topline and strong well angulated rear quarters, which he uses well on the move yet still showing a touch of elegance and he moves around the ring, his tail gently wagging from level topline. His quality coat, well broken with ample feathering and silky ears are the icing on the cake.
2nd: 1167 CARRIGAN, Mrs Catherine Poseyhill Sir Isaac Newton at Carripom, Pom, compact in body with expressive head, dark sparkling eyes, small neat ears, short neck, firm body harshly coated complete with ruff, moved out well.
3rd: 1374 PIKE, Mrs G & PIKE, Mr S & HILL, Mrs A & MALLINSON Eivisah Sonnentanz, Pug

Class 376 AVTPD (11 Entries)
1st: 45 SHENNAN, Miss V Ashiblack Caviar, Affenpinscher. What a lovely class this was, so many hard decisions here, the closest being first and second just loved them both. I chose this confident full of character youngster, he is sturdy in body with that really wicked expression to his face from his dark round eyes, well set, broad brow with high set ears, ample width of muzzle with prominent chin and wide open nostrils. On the move he demands attention as he struts around the ring, tail held high, couldn’t go past him for my Best A/V Toy Puppy
2nd: 973 WATKINS, Ms Tereza & BUGDEN, Miss Jess Hawksflight Hot Pursuit, Min Pin, On seeing this youngster enter the ring I immediately though “Wow” he certainly catches the eye. So well balanced from head to tail, Correct wedge shaped head, erect high set ears, arched neck flowing into shoulders and gently sloping topline, well angulated rear quarters. Could not fault him on the move, straight and true coming and going, yet still exhibiting the required hackney action. Delighted to see him take the final BIS and BPIS awards later in the day. 3rd: 548 MURRAY, Mrs J A Cukoton Shot In The Dark, CDT

VETERAN STAKES

lass 377 AVTVD (9 Entries) 
1st: 945 HARRISON, Ms J D & REDDINGTON, Miss K Ch Trenson Flummadiddle Sh.CM. Min Pin, I judged this male as a youngster and delighted to see his remains fit and well bodied, if just greying a little now. So well balanced, with sturdy muscled body, strong neck leading to firm topline  gently sloping to strong well angulated rear quarters. Typical head with alert expression, small erect ears and almond shaped eyes, correct tapering muzzle. His typical movement completes the picture.
2nd: 188 KYNASTON, Miss K Granasil Golden Nugget (VW) (ShCEx) CKCS, having watched this ruby cavalier since his puppy days he just seems to get better and better. Gentle expression to his head, dark round eyes, well cushioned under, broad skull with correct high set ears, firm neck and well ribbed body, strong rear quarters. He excels on the move showing reach and drive keeping level topline with correct tail set, gently wagging as he goes.
3rd: 189 LEE, Mr & Mrs Richard & Kelly KELRICK FLAPJACK JW ShCM JW Sh.CM, CKCS

Class 378 AVTVB (9 Entries)
1st: 591 LEONARD, Mr Andrew & GOURLEY, Mr Nick Ch Witchstone Cheyenne Falls, ETT, a picture of elegance as she entered the ring, easy flowing movement, she is a good size, with classic head, erect ears, tapering skull to muzzle, dark sparking almond shaped eyes still bright and attentive. Sleek body,  from arched neck to gently rounded topline, to turn of stifle. 
2nd: 547 MURRAY, Mrs J A Happypaws Carefree Sh.CM ShCEx VW, CDT I have judged this gorgeous bitch many times previously, in my opinion she is still as good today as she was in her youth. A good size with feminine head, dark round eyes and balanced muzzle to skull, well pigmented. Her body is firm, well sprung, with the required slight rise over loin, immaculate white coat, of correct cotton texture, presented to perfection, she moves out well using strong rear quarters, a joy to watch.
3rd: 231 REES, Mrs Sarah & REES, Miss Beth Embeth Bonny Boat JW, CKCS

CHAMPION STAKES

Class 379 AVChD/B(TOY) (22 Entries)

What a joy to judge these wonderful winning dogs, not an easy choice with so much quality. My eventual winners were
1st: 1172 CAWTHERA-PURDY, Mrs A Ch Lireva's Wildest Dreams, Pom, fitted the bill for me, shown to perfection, stands four square with intermittent twirl as I always expect with this lively little breed. Foxy head, from his dark bright sparkling eyes, small erect ears so well set, broadhead tapering to muzzle, Short neck, compact body, correct high set tail, shown in excellent coat of correct texture. On the move could not be faulted a real eyecatcher.
2nd: 1319 FARNWORTH, Mrs S Ch Taftazini Nepalensis Jw, Pug,  Quality dog well bodied, sturdy without being oversized. He has a large round head, in balance with his body, which excels in pigmentation with defined wrinkles, his large dark round eyes are full of character, complete with the required large open nostrils, broad muzzle and under jaw. Moves out with purpose, exhibiting reach and drive with just the required roll to complete the picture.
3rd: 1125 MORLEY, Miss E & HITCHCOCK, Mr R Ch Lizlanmor Mr Mercury JW, Peke

BREEDER GROUP

Class 380T KCBC To (7 Entries)
1st: Storey’s team of Pugs, I just loved watching this group, so well matched to their breed standard for type and quality, their heads all typical, rounded, well defined and pigmented, with dark round eyes so appealing, compact sturdy bodies, they moved in harmony together and for me outstanding winners on the day.
2nd: Cawthera Purdy’s team of  Pomeranians, another quality group, just felt the winners more even in type and balance
3rd: Scott - Coton de Tulear
