Judging: English Setter, Gundog Group

Ladies Kennel Association December 12th 2025.  Judge Dilys Watts

I would like to say a huge thank you to the committee for the invitation to judge at LKA, one of my favourite shows and venues, it was such an honour.  Thank you for being so welcoming and arranging my excellent stewards.

Thankyou to all the exhibitors who entered under me today.  A few of the younger dogs were unsettled.  I did feel for both them and their handlers. I would like to thank you all for persevering.

I thoroughly enjoyed my day and was delighted with my winners. It was wonderful to see my BOB shortlisted in the group, well done.

Class 840 MPD (1 Entries) Abs: 0
1st: 1715 SAYERS, Mrs C Droveborough Blue Moon.   7month BB a little overawed by the day, so it was somewhat difficult to assess him.  From standing he has a kind expression, excellent front and rear angulation and seemed well off for bone. Super neat feet.  On the move he has level topline with correct slashing tail.

Class 841 PD (2 Entries) Abs: 0
1st: 1706 MCDOWELL, Mr & Mrs A Byedales Inspector Clueso.  10month light Blue Belton and Tan.  Pleasing head of correct proportions.  Long lean neck, nice shoulder placement, tailset a little low for me. Super coat.  Not very settled on the move but did enough to win the class.
2nd: 1715 SAYERS, Mrs C Droveborough Blue Moon

Class 842 JD (3 Entries) Abs: 0
1st: 1707 NEATH, Miss Janet Albadora Total Madness.  15 months BB. A lot to like. Melting expression and head is long and lean, correct stop and definition, low ear set. I loved his compactness and he has good round bone.  Level topline and tailset almost in line with his back. Nice depth of chest and good front and rear angulation.  Excellent depth of 2nd thigh which he used well on the move (once settled).  His tail did not stop wagging, he was certainly having fun with his handler today.
2nd: 1727 SZAL, Mrs Beverley Goldbirch Northern Jazz.   15 months light BB. Appealing head. Good reach of neck into well laid-back shoulders.  Nice front and rear angulation.  In lovely coat.  Longer in Loin than 1. Very unsettled on the move and difficult to assess as he spent a lot of time looking around and with no feet on the ground, I did feel for his handler.
