Judging: Boxer, Working Group
Many thanks to the committee of the Ladies Kennel Association for their kind invitation to judge at the final General Championship Show of 2025. Thanks also to my two very competant stewards for ensuring the ring ran with ease. Finally, thank you to all the exhibitors who came out on a Thursday right before Christmas. Your entries were gratefully received.
I was a little disappointed with the condition in which some exhibits were presented, there is no excuse for dirty dogs and worse still, one that I coud actually smell before assessing it. Another thing I noted were the amount of ‘overdone heads’ with hooded eyes hidden by a mono-brow. Where has that classic ‘clean’ Boxer head gone? Something, I feel, that needs to be addressed now.

1st: 143 MAIR, Misses L&S Lorrosa Dizzy Rascal At Glenauld
- 8 month old Brindle & White dog who has an eye catching profile. On closer inspection, he did not disappoint. He has an appealing head that was balanced with a nice dark eye and pleasing expression. He has a good neck that flowed into well laid shoulders, a level topline and well placed tail set. He is well off for bone and substance with tight cat feet. He moved out steadily for one of his age. Was pleased to award him BPIB.
2nd: 146 MCCARTHY, Mr D & GETHING, MR S Jeddhi Oh Danny Boy- Another nice puppy of 8 months, that was unfortunate to meet the winner in such good form today. He has a square outline which showed his ample forechest. He has a level topline with good tailset. He has a nicely rounded rear end and good width of thigh with evident second thigh forming. Will watch both these puppies future with interest.

Class 55 PD (3 Entries) Abs: 0
1st: 156 RENSHAW TURNER, Mrs Bev & TURNER, Mr David Newlaithe Northern Soul At Sonshoby- This 10 month old was a little unsettled to start with due to the unfortunate timing of the hall heater starting up! Sounded like a jet was about to take off. After a quick whizz around the ring, he composed himself and showed me exactly what he had to offer. He has a square body with a good neck into well laid shoulders. A level topline which was maintained on the move. He has a good width of thigh and moderate rear angualtion. His head is balanced throughout, is clean and he has a pleasing expression.
2nd: 118 FAY-SMITH, Mrs L A Lorrosa Keeping It Real- This puppy was unfortunate to have been moved up into the older puppy class. At 8 months, he was showing his lack of maturity and was at an awkward stage of development. He is slightly longer caste than the winner but has lots to build upon. He is well off for bone and substance for his age. His head has plenty to offer with a good balance of muzzle to skull. He moved out ok just needs to settle. Would like to see him in 6 months as I'm sure that will make all the difference to him.
Class 56 JD (3 Entries) Abs: 0
1st: 150 PAYNE, Mrs Amanda Willow Eye Of The Tiger - 13 month old Red & White that really attracted me with his stylish outline and unfaltering movement. His body is in super hard condition, which is always more evident in a red jacket which provides no hiding place for a clever handler to manipulate. His head is maturing nicely with good proportions when viewed form any angle. His eyes are dark and his expression is pleasing. His topline is slightly sloping and leads into a well placed tail set. He has hammy quarters and has super tight feet. Moved at one with his handler. So pleased to award him the Reserve Challenge Certificate in excellent company.
2nd: 110 CHELL, Miss Sally Jimbren Elite Legacy At Ludic- Another very nice dog unfortunate to come up against the winner today. His dark brindle jacket was gleaming which accentuated his short, cobby profile that he retained on the move. He is well off for bone and substance, has a slightly sloping topline and was at one with his handler. A bright future awaits him I'm sure.

Class 57 YD (2 Entries) Abs: 0
1st: 109 CARTER, Miss & Miss S & S Ch Farvalley Major Luke At Susancar- This 18 month old is of higher station to most of the male exhibits today. Something which, in my opinion, is being lost in the breed. What has happened to 'The Stallion Dogs' of yesteryear? He has a square outline with good angles both fore and aft. He uses his neck to perfection which then flows into well laid shoulders and a level topline. He has a bang on tailset, super hammy quarters which he uses to propel himself effortlessly around the ring. He has a lively temperament and delights in challenging his handler. A typical teenegar with lots to admire. Pleased to award him the Dog Challenge Certificate and Best of Breed.
2nd: 148 MURFIN, Miss Carol & HART, Mrs Marie Farvalley Pure Delight- This dog was presented in immaculate condition. He has a lovely, clean head which is balanced with well placed dark eyes and as pleasing expression. He needs to settle with his handler to show off his attributes to better advantage but all is there to work on.
Class 58 GD (2 Entries) Abs: 0
1st: 159 ROBINSON, Mrs Alice Legend Of Thor At Robinsteck JW - 16 month old dark brindle dog that has plenty of substance. His head is still a work in progress but is well balanced with good balance of muzzle to skull, dark eyes that are well set with good ear placement that completes a pleasing expression. He has a good neck into well placed shoulders, sloping topline and hammy, well angulated quarters. He is shown in super hard condition with well defined muscles.
2nd: 123 HUCKERBY & DOWELL, Mrs & Mr S & G Norwilbeck Bellchime Belta- This dog was also presented in pristine condition. He is of smaller stature than the winner but presents a super square outline with good topline that he retained on the move. His headpiece is a classic example you would expect to find from this kennel, being balanced throughout with well defined stop and super expression. Moved out well.
Class 59 PGD (1 Entries) Abs: 0
1st: 105 BEE, Mrs A Beeann Big Story - Dark brindle with short body, level topline and adequate quarters that he used to power his movement. His head is on the large side but has a dark eye and good ear placement. Unfortunately, I felt he was not at one with his handlers today.
Class 60 LD (5 Entries) Abs: 0
1st: 139 MAIR, Misses L&S Glenauld The Chase - This boy is well off for substance and is presented with a gleaming red jacket. He is square in body with ample forechest. He has a lovely headpiece that is balanced and is correct in profile with good rise of skull and well placed ears. He has a correct topline with a bang on tailset. Good width of thigh with well let down hocks and super tight feet. He moves with drive and covered the ground effortlessly. Was called into the last four for consideration of the Challenge Certificate. Pushed hard and may well have succeeded on another day!
2nd: 107 BROUGH, Mrs L & BROUGH, Mr Gavin Limubox Scotch Gold JW- This was a close call between these two red males. I was splitting hairs when making my final descision. His head is also pleasing and classic with a super dark eye that is well placed and not in any way overshadowed by a heavy brow. Super in profile which was maintained on the move and was powered by his well muscled quarters and evident second thigh.

1st: 137 MAIR, Misses L&S Ch Macbarra Kickin Up A Storm At Glenauld Jw- This was another dog that was presented with a gleaming jacket that showed off his bodily attributes to perfection. I liked his balanced head which is not overdone but in balance with his body . He has a pleasing, inquisitive expression with no malice. He has super bone and substance with discernable muscles, super hammy quarters which he used to advantage on the move. Another in the last four for consideration of the Challenge Certificate.
2nd: 138 MAIR, Misses L&S Ch Sulez Scorcher At Glenauld Jw- This kennel certainly has some impressive males. He is a slightly larger version in comparison to the winner but has many of the same virtues. He moved steadily and was at one with his handler. Today, I felt that the winners head piece, for me, was slightly cleaner than this exhibit.

Class 64 SBD (2 Entries) Abs: 0
1st: 136 LORD, Mr James & ROBERTS, Mr Gethin Ygogarth Space Oddity - This dog was carrying a little too much substance today which made an impact on his outline. He has a pleasing head with a dark eye and good nostrils but was unsettled and did not move out well with his handler. One to work on.
Class 65 MPB (4 Entries) Abs: 2
1st: 161 TONKIN, Miss Yolanda & PELLOW, Mr R & PELLOW, Mr K Whisper Of Love Dell'ottava Meraviglia At Rosanyos - A red bitch shown in super condition. She has a pleasing head that is more typical of continental breeding but is balanced and has good padding under her nice dark eye. She does fall away slightly in croup, again a continental attribute, but she maintains her topine well on the move which was steady and at one with her handler.
2nd: 133 LAY, Mr Mrs Steve And Linda Lottalove Flower Queen For Swiftwood- A pretty brindle bitch with a pleasing head. Nicely shaped body when I was able to assess her. She was totally overawed by the occasion and was not co-operting with her handler today. Would like to see her in 12 months time.
Class 66 PB (3 Entries) Abs: 0
1st: 164 VAN-BECK, Mrs V Newlaithe Come On Y'all - This was a nice class and I felt I was splitting hairs when it came to placing. My winner presented a lovely square outline, she is well off for bone and substance. She has a pretty feminine head which, in some classes, I felt was missing. She moved out well with her handler, maintaining her shape on the move. Best Puppy Bitch
- 2nd: 167 WELCH, Mr Trevor & WELCH, Mrs Julie Newlaithe Bridget Jones With Treju
- Another lovely bitch from the same kennel as the winner. She is very much in keeping with the winner, a beautiful headpiece that is balanced with a soft expression and lovely eye. Unfortunately for her, she could not settle in the surroundings and wasn't prepeared to co-operate with her handler. She did move out well when settled and could easily swap places with the winner on another day.

Class 67 JB (6 Entries) Abs: 2
1st: 145 MCCARTHY, Mr D & GETHING, MR S Boxania Don't Blame Me At Jeddhi- I was impressed by this bitch's square outline, substance and balance. She has a pretty head with good balance of muzzle to skull, nice dark eye and well set ears. She has a good neck that flows into well laid shoulders. A level topline that is completed with a well set tail. She has a good width of thigh that is complimented with well defined muscles. Moved out well with her handler. Last four for the Challenge Certificate.
2nd: 106 BROUGH, Mrs L & BROUGH, Mr G & CAIRNS, Mrs J Jimbren Lasting Legacy With Limubox- Another ‘A’ Class bitch that I'm sure will challenge the winner on another day. She has a pleasing outline that is balanced with good angles both front and rear and a good chest to complete the picture. She has a pretty head but not quite the depth of the winner. She moved with drive and purpose and has plenty of time to mature into that ‘A’ class.

Class 68 YB (4 Entries) Abs: 2
1st: 153 PEARCE, Mr G & FRANCIS, Mr D Ch Longsdale Crazy For You- Super elegant dark brindle bitch that was presented in immaculate condition. She has a super outline that immediately attracts the viewer, a beautiful swan neck into well placed shoulders, level topline with super tailset. She has an ample forechest, well boned legs with tight feet to set off the picture. Her rear end is well muscled and she moved with drive and purpose. Was pleased to award her the Reserve Challenge Certificate today.
2nd: 144 MCCARTHY, Mr D & GETHING, MR S Lorrosa My Heads Been Turned To Jeddhi- Was unfortunate to meet the RCC winner today. I have admired this bitch from ringside but today I felt she was carrying a little more substance than previously seen and this did detract from the overall picture. She has a pretty, balanced head. A strong neck which rolls into a level topline, well set tail and good width of quarters. Not as steady on the move today as the winner.
Class 69 GB (5 Entries) Abs: 1
1st: 147 MCDONALD, Mrs E M & MCDONALD, Miss K L Yeteb Little Miss Splendid - A lovely bitch that has a super feminine headpiece. She has a good balance of muzzle to skull, nice eye and super, soft expression. She has an eyecatching outline that she retained on the move. She was put down in tip top condition and is a credit to her owners.
2nd: 142 MAIR, Misses L&S Glenauld Storm Felicity- Another quality bitch that has a super outline, lovely head although not quite the femininity of the winner. She has a super square outline with slightly sloping toping, bang on tailset and good width of quarter with evident second thigh. Moved out well with her clever handler.

1st: 152 PEARCE, Mr G & FRANCIS, Mr D Longsdale Here Ya Come Again- Another quality bitch from this kennel with many similar attributes to the Yearling winner. I felt that, for me today, I preferred the more feminine head of the yearling bitch but in profile, they are both beautiful girls and could swap places many times over.
2nd: 115 FAY-SMITH, Mrs L A Lorrosa Senorita- This bitch is balanced and is of correct substance. She has the feminine head I was looking for, pretty expression, good eye and well placed ears. She has a square outline which was retained on the move pushed the winner hard for first place.

Class 71 LB (4 Entries) Abs: 1
1st: 125 HUGGINS, Mr & Mrs Ashley & Debbi Willow Belle Star For Daervlish (ikc) - This bitch was sympathetically handled to show her virtues. A quality bitch with a head that has strong properties, nice rise of skull with well set ears. Her eyes are dark with a pleasant expression. She moved steadily and at one with her handler.
2nd: 116 FAY-SMITH, Mrs L A Lorrosa Missy Elliot- Another nice bitch of bone and substance. She has a pleasing outline with good angles fore and aft. She moved out steadily with her handler but just lacked lustre today.
3rd: 100 ADAM, Mrs E J Carkennar Brainstorm
Class 72 OB (6 Entries) Abs: 2
1st: 114 DRINKWATER, Mrs Susan Ch Sulez Smashedit- A super quality bitch with a stunning outline that shouted ‘I’m all female'. She is well balanced with a lovely headpiece that is so appealing. She has a level topline with neat underline and good tuck up. Everything is in proportion. She moved with confidence and style around the ring. I last judged her as a puppy when she had BPIS and she still fills my eye! I was delighted to award her the Bitch Challenge Certificate. Today, the dog just pipped her on his style and temperament so she had to settle for Reserve Best of Breed.
2nd: 119 FLINTOFT, Miss S Ch Boxania Make Me Smile- A classic bitch put down in super condition. She has a pretty head with kindly expression that is highlighted by her lovely eyes. She is square in outline with level topline and well angulated quarters that she used on her steady, ground covering movement. Just unfortunate to meet the winner in such good form.
