Many thanks to this club for this lovely invitation and to the exhibitors for a lovely day amongst my breed. Special thanks to my steward, Nan MacLeod, who was super-efficient and kept everything going.
To start with the positives, I was very happy with the depth of quality of the dogs and in some classes the decisions were very close. Good heads and expressions were present in abundance, and I was pleased that size for both sexes were well within the typical range.
As a breeder/ judge, I became quite concerned however about the number of mouth irregularities I found. I am not overly fixated on mouths and can forgive a couple of missing teeth, so long as there is sufficient width in the lower jaw. Our standard calls for an undershot bite; and again, I can accept a large undershot, so long as the mouth can close and the lips meet fully. The mouth faults I did find included scissor bites, very large undershot, missing incisors in young adults, misaligned canines, retained baby teeth in adults, and a number of wry mouths. I would appeal to any breeder to closely examine the mouths of their breeding stock and to be confident that they are not introducing more mouth issues in to the next generation.

2nd: CHRISTIE, Mrs D & Miss L - Balgay Golden Buzzer (a.i) litter brother to the winner, who had a slight edge today on this sibling for body and showmanship. A really lovely head with typical expression, everything as it should be and in the right amount. Excellent bone and well-constructed, just needs a little more body and substance to complete the picture. Lovely shape standing. Excellent coat texture in pristine condition. Just needs more time to mature.

1st: TOLLAN, Miss Margaret - Anasmas Maverick; Gold, of correct size and shape, with typical proportions, good bone and substance. Well-proportioned head but a little plain in expression however all the main elements are there, with good eye shape, good length of muzzle and correctly set and carried ears. A little more cushioning on the muzzle would complete the picture. Moves well, with good reach & drive and covers the ground with ease. Stood out in this class for his correct typical movement. Excellent coat texture.
2nd: THOMPSON, Mrs Rebecca & THOMPSON, Mr Paul - Susu Parti In The Stars; Gold & white with a good outline, firm top line and excellent tail set. Good bone and excellent feet. Masculine, well-shaped skull, ears well set but a little large. Eyes are good and dark but a little round. Scissor bite but good width to underjaw. Moved well when settled. 1st: COLAÇO, Ms Lisa & BROWN, Mr Nicolas - Ch Saxtead Norbu; This red sable dog won out today on his overall type, balance and soundness. He has a very typical masculine head, excellent ear set and carriage, strong pigmentation, a little round in eye and could be a shade darker, but this does not distract from the overall quality of his head and expression. Excellent mouth with good width and depth of chin. His outline is typically rectangular with good fore-chest, excellent spring and length of rib cage, strong loin, firm top line and well carried tail. In excellent coat of correct texture. On the move he holds a classic shape at all times, with proud head carriage and good reach and drive. DCC & BOB. Delighted to see that he later went Group 4.
2nd: O BRIEN, Ms Sharon – Ch & Ir Ch Gallantib's Oslo CW23 Ir J Ch; Gold sable with a well laid out head that is in proportion to his size, well-shaped dark eye and good pigmentation. Excellent mouth. Well set and carried ears. His outline is rather compact but good fore-chest and excellent bone. Front could be tighter and would prefer more return of upper arm and tighter elbows. Excellent rear angulation. In full coat and very well feathered. Firm topline and correct tail set and carriage. Took time to settle on the move.

1st: THOMPSON, Miss Olivia - Susu Prince Charming ShCEx: Gold sable with a very attractive head and expression, lovely eye, excellent skull shape, good length of muzzle, tight undershot bite. Correct sets and carried ears. Lovely balance for size with correct moderate bone excellent feet. Very fluid on the move, showing no signs of age, a little more substance would complete the picture. In lovely coat, of textbook texture, with just the right amount of coat & plumage, which enhances the outline rather than overpowers it. Excellent temperament. I have long admired this dog from the ringside and have questioned why he has not done better, as he has many desirable breed features which we need to keep in the breed. RES CC

1st: GILLING, Miss D - Princess Mulan Ilharess Of Talocan (Imp Pol) JW; Gold with a very attractive head and expression, lovely dark well shaped eyes, strong pigmentation, excellent ear size, shape and carriage. Well-proportioned skull of correct size and shape. To be hypercritical she could be a fraction smaller in size, but still distinctly feminine in outline and so well balanced. Excellent feet. Moves well holding her top line firmly, with her head & tail carried proudly. In good coat of correct texture. She has matured nicely both mentally and physically as she is a bitch I have admired from the ringside and sometimes is so full of energy and enthusiasm that she can be unsettled and makes hard work for her devoted handler. Today she was totally cooperative & I was delighted to award her the Res CC.
2nd: HAMILTON, Mr Ian & HAMILTON, Mrs Gale - Torfness Hollie Day Romance Of Galetibbian; Gold with the typical head and expression, good strong pigmentation, strong chin & good mouth and well-shaped skull. Good ear set and creates a lovely typical expression when she uses them. Looks a little tall at the moment but lovely feminine outline. Very well constructed & moves well when settles. Excellent coat texture and condition.

1st: TOLLAN, Miss Margaret - Yotisha's Sun-rise To Anasmas (imp Nor); This Red and White Parti-colour has a beautiful head and expression, with a lovely dark well shaped oval eye, well set and carried ears, lovely nose placement, good mouth and chin and well cushioned muzzle, all combining to give her a beautiful typical Tibetan expression. Loved her size and overall balanced with good bone but needs a little more substance. Excellent length of rib cage, firm top line and good tail carriage. She is a little loose in front and very exuberant on the move but when settles moves steadily holding a typical outline. Well-marked and excellent outgoing temperament. Pushed hard in the end for top honours.
2nd: MINTO, Mrs Ellen - Anacan Summer Breeze; Another top-quality bitch full of breed details, with a lovely head, excellent, well cushioned muzzle, strong chin and good mouth. She is a little round in eye, but they are dark and expressive, and the shape does not detract from this very typical head. Very well constructed and has a lovely feminine outline. Needs a little more body to complete the picture. Moves well holding a typical shape at all times

1st: PLACE, Mrs M L & HALLIDAY, Mrs AL - Ch Susu Wears Prada In Lockdown At Aarminias; This pale gold bitch scores on many fronts but for me I adore her instantly recognisable feminine, well-balanced outline. In our breed, it is extremely important to be able to recognise the female and the male before we even touch them. She has a lovely feminine head & expression, with the well-shaped eye, excellent chin, strong pigmentation and good mouth. Lovely ear set, size & carriage; all these details combine to give her the most endearing expression. Her eyes are full of intelligence and curiosity. Super outline, totally in balance with her size. Coming back into good coat. Lovely feet. Evenly angulated front and rear and holds a typical shape on the move. Delightful temperament. BCC & BOS
2nd: ASQUITH, Mrs & Miss Helen & Rachel - Baarnayotms Minnie Drachen; Black and white parti-colour, of correct size and good balance and proportions. She has a very correct head, with good eye shape, excellent pigmentation, good mouth and chin. Well-shaped neat ears, but could be a little higher set. In full coat of correct texture, A little soft in condition but moves well when settles.
