Judging:

Firstly I want to thank you to Paignton for the opportunity to judge this wonderful breed at their show. I was truly honoured. Secondly I want to thank the exhibitors for their entry and their patience as we waited a long time to get in to a ring. Finally, once we started it was evident that I had some beautiful specimens of the breed and in some cases it was finding a little edge for the winners.

Class 773 SBD NO ENTRIES

Class 774 PD (3 Entries) Abs: 0
1st: 1386 TONG, Miss Jayne Cranvarl the Red King of Jakconas

A stunning and smart young red head with all the right qualities. A mature 9 month old who was very self assured and moved with confidence, good reach and stood square. His overall body and shape were distinctive of breed type, being well built but not overdone. A promising boy, who I am sure will have a great show career. RBD, BP and delighted to see he took Puppy Group 2 as well.

2nd: 1376 QUINN, Mrs T & Mr A Sharlarna Swindler

Another 9 month old who was equally as confident and showed a happy disposition. A beautiful black and white coat in good condition. He moved with ease, stood square and also of correct type and proportions. Overall, a beautiful boy, who, with increased maturity will continue to challenge 1st.

Class 776 PGD (2 Entries) Abs: 0
1st: 1387 VINCENT, Mrs S C Cholas Yasu At Yama

Mature 4 year old black and white boy. A beautiful classic Chin head with eyes, ears and mouth all within the correct proportions.   A sturdy chap who maintained balance on the move showing off his elegant coat.

2nd: 1381 SPEIGHT, Mrs Gill Bonniroy Yoto

Another 4 year old who did well to show for his handler today. His overall structure was not overdone. Once on the move, he developed confidence and general balance. However I would have preferred a straighter hind quarter. Although his coat was of a nice quality, it was not as profuse as 1st.

Although he stood alone in this class, everything about this 16 month old boy spoke quality. He was a joy to go over, with a well built ‘cobby’ body and classic strong but fine bone. Perfectly sized head with correct eye and ear set, and a well cushioned muzzle. His coat was silky and well feathered in all the right places. He did not disappoint on movement as he confidently and stylishly displayed his overall excellent balance.  Glad to award BD & BOB and delighted that he was shortlisted in the group too.

1st: 1371 DORAN, Ms M Ellinghurst Dark Sorcerer With Osakazuki

Although a little tentative this nearly 11 year old performed well. Lovely broad head, reasonable amount of muzzle and ears well set. For an older example of the breed, his coat is in good condition. A little tentative on the move but overall balance was reasonable given his age.

Class 780 SBB NO ENTRIES

Class 781 PB (3 Entries) Abs: 2
1st: 1384 SPEIGHT, Mrs Gill Bonniroy Yanagi

Stood alone in this class but this black and white 7 month old, at her first show did well for her handler. Although, her overall body was within the proportions for the breed, with maturity she will further develop the breadth needed to fully see her potential. A little tentative and unsure of herself which hindered her movement.

1st: 1369 CALVERT, Mr and Mrs Kevin and Gemma Somergemz Balenciaga

Lively, happy sable girl who was captivating. This 14 month old bitch has all the right qualities and all the right proportions. Although, I would have preferred a darker eye pigmentation. Her generous, silky coat gleamed was well maintained. She confidently moved back and forth and stood square.

1st: 1372 MARTIN, Miss S E Sleepyhollow Cover Girl for Kirdanchi.

A 3 year old black and white bitch, small in stature but happy.  In good coat condition with a fair amount of feathering on a well balanced body. Pleasing head with correct ear set. An appropriate cushioned muzzle and reasonably sized eyes with the classic astonished looked given by the slight bit of white shown. Moved with confidence, keeping tail set high.

Class 784 LB (6 Entries) Abs: 0
1st: 1375 QUINN, Mrs T & Mr A Sharlarna Eye Candy JW

A smart, quality, black and white 20 month old bitch.  She has substance with fine strong bone and a well balanced compact body.  Beautiful dark eyes, set well on a moderately sized head. This bitch has confidence when moving, freely displaying reach and drive but equally maintaining the straightness desired. Although a little out of coat on this occasion, she has elegance and was a happy girl. RBB

2nd: 1385 TONG, Miss Jayne & CRANE, Mrs Lynn Cranvarl Maude

This red and white bitch put a smile on my face. She displayed a captivating personality as she spun her way around the ring. She has a profuse coat in excellent condition and well feathered in all the appropriate places. Her soft expression was pleasing but also conveyed the astonishment through the correct amount of white in her dark eyes. A confident mover, maintaining good overall balance, just lacked in body substance compared with 1st.

1st: 1378 ROONEY & GREEN, Mr, Mr & Mrs S,J & A Ch JASCHIN FIRST EDITION

A nice, square ‘cobby’ 4 year old black and white bitch. Appropriately sized head, with dark eyes, well set and correct amount of white. Ears of correct size and well feathered. Also muzzle was well cushioned. A happy girl who moved with confidence front and back and maintained a level topline and held her tail high. An easy class winner. BB

2nd: 1379 ROONEY & GREEN, Mr, Mr & Mrs S,J & A JASCHIN PAWS FOR APPLAUSE

From the same kennel as 1st and equally has the quality of 1st. She too has a nice compact body, within all the correct proportions for the breed. Similar head with dark eyes and well set ears. Just lacked the coat of 1st, so less feathering and fullness. An eager girl who moved with confidence and stood square.

Class 786 VB (1 Entries) Abs: 0
1st: 1383 SPEIGHT, Mrs Gill Bonniroy Yasafii

A 12 year old black and white bitch who although tentative and with a little bit of something in her eye, she did well for her handler.  A A mature head of good size with dark eyes, well set. Although showing some greyness, her coat is in good condition given her age. Given time and support she moved around the ring but struggled to keep her tail high. BVIB
