NATIONAL TERRIER DOG SHOW

SATURDAY 5 APRIL 2025

CAIRN TERRIER

I would like to thank the Committee of  National Terrier Dog Show for their hospitality and the exhibitors who entered their dogs for me to judge. I was pleased with my top winners. I was surprised that a few dogs had incorrect mouths and  unkempt coats. There was a variation in size and quite a few of the dogs needed their coats attending to. After all it is a beauty contest! Movement seems to have improved a little since I last judged.

SBD or SBB (2 0)

1 Sinclair's Tycadno Quick Shot, wheaten with a well proportioned head, a good stop, a straight front and a level topline. Showed well. Could be a little less happy with his tail.

2 Metcalf-Sault's Cannwood Can't Get Enough, slightly longer in body than 1. He has a good head of correct proportions, dark eye, and correct mouth. Good layback of shoulders and tail well set on. Moved okay and showed well.

VD or VB (5 1)

1 Smith's Misty Dawn At Gethlee, 9 year old wheaten, shown in full coat. She has a well proportioned head, good stop, dark eye and correct scissor bite. Straight front, strong feet, level topline and good tailset. Moved and showed well. She was enjoying her day out.

2 Tester's Airytykes Excuse Me, a red bitch smaller in size than 1 with a good head, dark eye and correct mouth. Straight front, level topline and a well set tail. Moved well.

3 Lamb & Saltmarsh's Birselaw Come Dancing With Macmoon. (Osw Jw Shcex Sh cm)

MPD (No entries)

PD (1 0)

1 Percy's Ariom Northern Dancer With Winetta, a very confident 8 month red puppy with a good mouth and correct bite, good eye colour and a correct stop,  good neck and shoulders, straight front. Moved around the ring well both ways. Changing his coat at the moment but it is of correct texture. Pleased to award him a well deserved Res DCC & BP.

JD (3 1)

1 Felters & Rumens’ Landbuck Sabrage, wheaten brindle, good headed dog. Straight front, strong feet, a good layback of shoulders and level topline. Movement at times was a bit erratic but when he settled he had plenty of drive. Just in the process of changing his coat. Pleased to award him DCC.

2 Lamb & Saltmarsh's Tycadno Shining Star Around Macmoon JW, well balanced wheaten who was difficult to asses as he wasn't co-operating with his owner when he was moving. Good head, neck and shoulders, correct mouth and bite. Very eye catching.

GD (1 0)

1 Sinclair's Tycadno Quick Shot.

PGD (1 0) 1 Shopland's Sanderfield On The Rocks For Cherrycrack (Imp Fin), strong headed dark brindle,  level topline and a good tailset. Strong feet. Good harsh textured coat. Moved well around the ring. Could do with a little less weight.

LD (5 0) 1 Roberts' Cannwood Moonlight Shadow, nicely balanced wheaten brindle with a correct scissor bite with large teeth, strong masculine head. Good outline with a level topline and a well set tail. Good outline when standing, moved well. Considered for Res DCC.

2 Thomas's Tycadno Magic Man, a lovely strong headed wheaten, with a deep stop, and a wide jaw. Well balanced, level topline, showed and moved well.

3 Clarke's Wonderpaws Obi Wan Kenobi.

OD (3 3)

MPB (2 0)

1 Clarke handling for Griffiths Wonderpaws Trusty Tweed, 6 month dark grey brindle. Pretty head, with a correct mouth, deep stop and a good expression. Straight front, good length of neck flowing into good shoulders. Her elbows fit well into her body. Level topline. She moved well around the ring when she settled. I was told afterwards that this was her first show!

2 Parker-Tucker's Uniquecottage Dark Tansy, once again this was her first show and she is very much a baby. Just 6 months old, dark grey brindle with a lovely head, straight front with strong feet, good topline and tailset. Moved well when she settled. Just needs to grow in confidence and size.

PB (No entries)

JB (5 1) 1 Thomas's Tycadno Winter Star, wheaten brindle shown in full coat. Lovely head and expression, good length of neck flowing into level topline. Well balanced with a good outline. Moved out well. Shown in full coat of good texture.

2 Felters & Rumens’ Landbuck Amethyst, a smaller bitch than 1 with a very feminine head of good proportions. Level topline and a good tailset. Showed well and moved with drive around the ring. Coat not at its best at present but of a coarse texture. Should have a good future.

3 Pett's Doonrae Ultra Violet.

GB (3 0) 1 Thomas's Castleline Seren At Tycadno, a well proportioned bitch  shown in good coat. Pretty head with a dark eye, good mouth, straight front with strong feet, level topline. Moved around the ring with plenty of drive. An excellent showgirl.

2 Metcalf-Sault's Cannwood Quiet Reflections, wheaten brindle bitch with a strong head and a good expression. Straight front and a level topline. Moved well around the ring. Coat not at its best at the moment but of correct texture.

3 Tester's Airytykes Just Mischief.

PGB (6 1) 1 Osborn's Be Gin Again At Tweslam, grey brindle with a lovely outline. She has a very pretty head with all the correct proportions. Good neck, front and forechest. She was a little wilful on the move but when she settled she moved well. Doesn't co-operate all the time with her handler, but a good quality bitch.

2 Clarke's Furythor Born To Sparkle By Lentrica, dark grey brindle, shorter in the back than 1. Good outline. Excellent textured coat. Showed well, moving better at rear than the front.

3 Ballinger's Cloverbrook Forget Me Not.

LB. (11 2)

1 Goud's Vale Of Atholl's Snug In The Blanket, nicely balanced wheaten brindle with a dark mask. Correct head and a good expression, good mouth and correct eye colour. Good length of neck and clean shoulders, level topline. Moved and showed really well.

2 Parker-Tucker's Birselaw Floral Dancer Of Uniquecottage, wheaten brindle of a bigger frame than 1 but still nicely balanced and with a good outline. Clean neck and shoulders. Moved really well.

3 Osborn's Tweslam Be Gin The Magic (AI).
