Thank you to Birmingham National for the invitation to award CCs for the second time in Parson Russell Terriers, a breed very close to my heart. The condition and temperament in the dogs was excellent and all spanned with ease. I had some thoroughly lovely exhibits to choose from.

What a treat of a baby. Seven months old and showing plenty of promise. Correct shape in head with excellent well placed ears of a neat size. Lovely dark eye of correct almond shape. Strong muzzle and jaw with correct proportions through the length of head; muzzle being slightly shorter than length of skull and shallow through the stop. Excellent bone for size. Strong in neck with decent layback of shoulder. Could have a little more length and angulation in upper arm though stands true in front with sturdy forelimbs and pasterns. Excellent well knit feet. Firm topline with excellent strong tail well set on. Very true in rear action moving away with hocks low to ground and well muscled thighs. Excellent skin and coat with plenty of texture.

He came, he saw and he most certainly conquered. So beautifully put together with complete balance from nose to tail. Super head with the correct degree of tapering from back to front whilst maintaining strength through his muzzle which has the correct slightly shorter ratio relative to length of skull. Lovely dark, well pigmented eye with well set ears. Very well constructed in forequarters with plenty angulation and length through the upper arm with a clean layback of shoulder lending to good reach in neck. Excellent feet with strength in pasterns and quality of bone. Equally well made in his well muscled hindquarters. Topline is firm with very correct tailset and carriage. Excellent skin and coat. Moved so true on the out and back with typical outline in side profile which clinched him the Res CC along with BPIB. What an exciting future this youngster must have.

Pleasing type with good balance in overall proportions. Masculine head that has correct proportions comparing skull to muzzle, flat in skull with ears well set. A little deeper in stop. Eye of correct shape with good pigmentation. Stands parallel in front though wouldn't want any more width in front. At times a little unsettled in topline today with a tendency to roach. Both factors could likely be down to a juvenile stage in his development and hopefully will strengthen and settle with maturity. He is otherwise strongly made in body and loin with good length of leg relative to depth. Well made in rear with good muscling through the thighs. Excellent feet with strong pasterns. Excellent skin and coat.

Another quality young male at only 15 months old. Workmanlike in appearance with no hint of exaggeration. For me he has a classically defined Parson head; good length and shaping in head from back skull to nose, strong jaw without any bulk, shallow in stop, flat and moderately broad in skull with ears well set. Characterful and keen masculine expression to his dark correctly shaped and sized eyes that are framed with the darkest pigmentation. Cleanly constructed in forequarters with strength in neck. Stands true front and back with strong pasterns . Amongst the best in the class, along with 2nd, for correct angulation in front and rear. Firm topline with excellent tailset. Moved out with ease.

2nd: 4381 BIGLAND, Mrs L R Heythrop Tempura

Loved his shape in body and outline. Masculine in head, a little deeper through the stop than one though he has correct proportions comparing length in skull and muzzle, good breadth in skull and a strong jaw. He has the darkest almond-shaped eyes, correctly set and sized giving him such a keen, handsome expression framed by neat ears. Like the class winner, he was also a standout for his well constructed fore and hindquarters. Harmonious in build up from strong front pasterns through his straight forequarters, well angulated upper arm of good length, excellent layback of shoulder with plenty of reach to his strong neck. He has correct depth in chest to the elbow, good length of leg relative to depth with ribs extending well back. Excellent topline and tailset. Equally well constructed in hindquarters, well muscled through first and second thigh with the correct degree of angulation through the stifle and hocks well let down. He moved out really well.

Another youngster, at just over 15 months, and what a smart upstanding boy he is! My very worthy CC Winner today who presents a picture of strength and balance without being overdone in any aspect. Has correct proportions being only slightly greater in length compared to height. Masculine head with pleasing proportions and expressive eyes of correct size and shape with dark colour and pigmentation; flat skull with shallow stop and neat ears. Clean line flows harmoniously from crest of neck, over the shoulders, across the topline into excellent set on of tail with correct carriage. Stands strongly and true in fore and hindquarters with excellent feet. Correct moderate depth of chest just to the elbow. Strong through rib and loin. Excellent texture to coat with good skin. Commensurate length of leg relative to depth of body. Such a showman who put up a really good challenge to his female counterpart in the run off for Best of Breed.

2nd: 4388 HOBSON, Mr D Ch Partridgdale Flynn

Another I liked very much and clearly a worthy Champion. He stands true in natural stance both fore and aft on his well made quarters. Well proportioned masculine head of correct proportions comparing muzzle to skull. Keen expression with excellent rich pigmentation. Good strength to correctly tapering muzzle with flat skull, shallow stop and well placed ears. Excellent shape through the body and in such fit, well muscled condition. Strong thighs with good angulation. Moved out well.

Eleven years old and still has excellent strong dentition, lovely to see such strong clean teeth in vintage exhibit, a real credit to his owner. Beautiful expression to his masculine head. Strong jaw. Ear well set though a tad elongated. Strong neck. Well made in topline with slight rise over the loin. He is ribbed well back and short coupled. Excellent hindquarters that are well angulated Excellent feet. In tip top muscular condition.

Feminine girl with a dark, deeply pigmented pretty eye of correct size and shape. In build she is sturdy yet clearly feminine. Her head is well proportioned comparing muzzle to skull length with the correct flat profile in skull that is moderately broad. A little deeper in stop, she has well placed ears of a neat size and correct carriage with tips falling in line with the corner of the eye. She has a decent return in upper arm and is well made through the shoulder. Stands true front and back with nicely angulated hindquarters and plenty strength to the first and second thigh. Coat texture a little soft though she has excellent thickness of skin and well toned in muscle. Ribbed well back. She has a decent topline but a little steeper in croup lending to a slightly lower tailset. She has excellent feet and bone with hocks well let down. Tidy mover who has very accurate hind action. Beautifully shown and delighted to see them take a SB Group placement.

Pretty girl. Well proportioned comparing body length to height with good leg length relative to depth of body. Wedge-shaped head of correct proportions with good strength to the muzzle. Excellent eye of dark colour with matching pigmentation. Stands true front and back. Strong neck with good strength through the forechest. Ribbed well back with an excellent topline and tailset. Hindquarters are well constructed with correct angulation and ample strength to the thighs with hocks low to ground. Skin and coat in good order. Excellent feet on a sound mover.

2nd: 4410 WOODS, Mrs Sue Glen & BORMAN, Master Bobby Wayward Got You

Appealing female with gorgeous expression; dark eyes of correct almond shape, well sized and with dark pigmentation. She has the most super coat of good density and excellent texture with thick, pliable skin. Strong neck. Stands true in front but could do with a little more length through the upper arm. Firm topline. A little steeper in croup than one. Well angulated in rear with hocks low to ground. Compact feet with moderately arched toes. Nicely proportioned comparing length to height. Moved out soundly.

Love her! She is so nice to go over and is full of quality. Feminine head of correct proportions with good strength to the jaw and muzzle. Loveliest expression with deep eye colour and dark pigmentation framed by excellent ears. Strong neck with clean line extending from crest, over the shoulders and across the backline with slight rise over the loin with tail well set. Excellent forequarters with equally super hindquarters. Well made in rib with correct amount of depth and good length of leg. Excellent muscling to hindquarters. Excellent skin and coat including on her underbelly, the density and texture of which is missing in some. Moves out like she owns the place and almost does herself a disservice in her urgency to make it around the ring. My RCC winner though a very strong contender for the ticket and no doubt her Championship won't be too long in the making.

1st: 4384 CASSON, Miss T Pacolito Going Fur Gold At Cassjoebar

Brimming with breed type and teeming with quality, what a treat she is and such a pleasure to go over; she had the best forehand by far in the entry today, a feature which is a little underdone in even some of the most otherwise outstanding exhibits. Clean, well-proportioned, wedge-shaped head, flat in skull with the correct amount of moderation through the stop. Keen, wise expression from her correctly shaped dark almond-shaped eyes. Ears of good size, well set on with tips correctly sitting in line with the corner of the eye. Excellent build through the neck and shoulder. Made well in body and loin. Excellent hindquarters. Feet are compact with correct, moderately arched toes. Correct thick, loose skin and superb, well textured coat. Moves out with drive and is so sound and true in action on the out and back; equally looks a gem in side profile. Motors around the ring with ease, giving the impression she could go all day without fail. At eighteen months, this girl is relatively young, however all the essentials are already there and she could not be denied the CC and Best of Breed today. She can only flourish as she matures and I shall follow her progress with keen interest.

2nd: 4389 HUGHES, Mrs A Ruffntuff Tears Of Joy

Soundly made girl who is well proportioned comparing length to height. Super eye of good colour, correctly almond-shaped with dark pigmentation. Head is wedge shaped and correctly proportioned through the length with a slightly shorter muzzle relative to skull with ample strength in the muzzle, though skull is a little more rounded. Ribbed well back and short coupled with an excellent topline and tailset. Coat a little changeable so doesn't score as well in jacket. Good thick skin. Very well muscled hindquarters with good across the thighs; not quite the angulation in front and rear as one and so not as free striding in side profile on the move.

Class 1782 OB (7 Entries) Abs: 1
1st: 4404 SMITH, Mrs K & SMITH, Misses J & A Ch Alncroft Foxtrot

Very smart and so well presented. She is very well proportioned gauging length to height and also in length of leg relative to body depth. Balanced in angulation front and back, she never put a foot wrong on the move. She is well constructed in front with good angulation through the upper arm and well laid shoulders. Excellent in topline and tailset with ribs extending well back. Correct amount of angulation in hindquarters with strong, well muscled thighs. Firm hocks set low to ground. I liked her very much, so full of quality, but just marginally preferred the profiles in head and neck of my CC Winners.

2nd: 4402 PÖHLAND, Mrs Angelika & HUIS, Miss Mariska Int Ch NL Ch Bel VDH Lux Plappermaulchen's Brown Eyed Girl

Very smart and another so beautifully presented in tip top condition. Stands true front and back. Typical expression with eyes of correct shape, dark in colour and pigmentation. Feminine head with well set ears that could be a tad smaller. Correct ratio muzzle to skull with good strength in jaw. Excellent topline and tailset. Appears a little more rangy in proportions, being a tad longer coupled and therefore longer overall relative to height. A little less angulation in rear would be preferable though her hindquarters are strongly made and well muscled. Excellent coat and skin. Very tidy mover superbly handled.

3rd: 4379 BIGLAND, Mrs L R Heythrop Taranna

I must mention this lovely bitch for her merits. When she stacked on the table I felt she surely must be the one to beat. Classic head with the most wonderful expression from her correctly sized dark eyes with deep pigmentation. So well proportioned all through, she fills your eye all of a piece, but sadly the balance she showed in build did not translate into the same level of coordination in action; she was unsettled and consequently outmoved by the two exhibits eventually stood before her when they all went around the ring together .

Splitting hairs between the top two. Just preferred the forehand on the move of the first.

1st: 4387 HOBSON, Mr D Ch Alncroft Isle See

Best Veteran and what a fabulous Senior. Turning eleven in September, she is so sound all through and in super fit condition. Lovely type of head, flat across the skull, correctly proportioned, with moderation in stop and well set ears of a tidy size. Feminine expression from dark well pigmented eyes of the correct shape and set. Strong neck that is well shaped and flows cleanly through to the shoulders. Could have a little more length and angulation through the upper arm though she stands absolutely true in front and moves as same. Strong in body and through the loin. Well muscled with excellent topline and tailset. Excellent skin and coat.

2nd: 4396 MCCLUSKEY, Mr Philip & YOUNG, Miss Jillian Chadbrook Elka VW

Another lovely girl of excellent breed type, close runner to one. Unmistakably feminine head and eye with excellent ears. Her eye is correctly shaped, dark and well pigmented. Correctly shaped head with moderation in stop and flat skull. She is very soundly built with an excellent topline and tailset. Well proportioned comparing height to length and good length of leg relative to body depth. Excellent coat and skin. Very true in stance and movement.
