Many thanks to the Manchester Championship Show for inviting me to judge the Bulldogs and to all the exhibitors for their entries. I was disappointed/concerned with the overall quality of the dogs. There is no questioning that health has improved significantly, however I feel we are starting to lose breed characteristics. Tight fronts, lack of brisket and rib is becoming alarmingly common, more worrying however is around the head. Lots with large heavy ears, eyes that are very close to each other, domed head is becoming more apparent. I was alarmed however at the amount of not only extremely narrow jaws but also wry mouths to varying degrees.
