My gratitude to my stewards Sue Butterfield along with her colleague and Leeds City & DCS for the most kind invitation, wonderful hospitality and super show organisation. I reported the overall health condition of the breed as good with the odd heavily lidded closing eye and excess skin exhibit on show in my opinion. Pleasingly my BOB easily made the group and it was an absolute delight to assess your lovely hounds thank you every exhibitor for your most kind entries.

1.  LAND - Clanwillow The Jazz Singer
Twenty one months dog free moving tri lovely balanced head correct clear lozenge eye shape pleasing dark colour and set level back extended length of ribbing though I feel he could have carried a tad more body condition to advantage. Fully muscled hindquarters powering on the move pleasing head and stern carriage very typical overall but not quite in his best coat on the day in my opinion BSB. Congratulations.

1.  CUDLIP - Deucecoupe Good Vibrations At Harvidene

Ten months r/w pleasing to see good length of clear leg on this puppy delightful promising head and calm expression eyes complimentary coloured to coat correctly lozenge shaped and set. Strong moderate neck well set into shoulders solid bone and large padded feet free moving and sound presented in excellent solid body condition very promising BP. Congratulations.

2.  COULTAS - Deucecoupe Four On The Floor

Litter brother to winner black blanket tri balanced skull to muzzle on parallel lines slightly jowly at this stage I considered level broad back excellent length of body thick stern well set and carried dense coat but beginning to shed on the day. Pleasing length of ears hindquarters well developed for his age with smooth thrusting action both dogs promising litter mates.

Two years four months free moving tri smooth action skull nicely moulded with some width at brows slightly strong head overall for me personally but without snipiness in the muzzle pleasing dark eye colour shape and set full wide nostrils on show ears of unexaggerated length. I considered him a tad deep in body for me and would have preferred slightly less skin folds on body broad strong loins thick tail nicely flagged very muscled hindquarters with deep second thighs. I might suggest it would benefit his outline appearance through losing some body condition in my opinion.

1.  ALLCHORNE - Nelgus Golden Nugget

Three years four months r/w wonderful clean oblong outline without any signs of excess in any department the best mover in the class in my opinion sound smooth and effortless. Moderate stop skull and muzzle without weakness pleasing set and length of ear excellent overall angulation correct spring of ribcage with good length of ribbing and loose skin nowhere excessive. Lovely shoulder placed without heaviness thick lengthy tail which could have been more raised on times but correctly set further displays excellent dentition.

2.  MELBOURNE & MURRAY - Diheath Chekov JW

Rising three years r/w another sound positive mover heavier in head finish than the winner with pronounced head skin folds front acceptably set. Excellent strong bone well knuckled feet and forelegs presented in well bodied condition though would not like to see anymore weight on show personally. Stern well flagged on the move oblong outline with length but slight heavy in appearance overall for me.

Rising two and a half r/w a young dog with many positive breed features on show substance and quality combined with sound construction correct breed outline free moving and capable of functioning on the hunt. Attractive masculine head with calm maturing expression no excess to skull or muzzle moderate slight stop full open nostrils slight head skin folds on show. Presented in excellent thick coat smooth and close supple skin well fitting jacket wide and strong across the loins excellent quality of bone large compact well padded feet fully rounded muscled hindquarters pleasing coat texture on show. Correct head and tail carriage moved with determination soundly and truly won on balanced outline and excellent breed type CC & BOB. Many congratulations.

2.  WOODWORTH - Ch Armardio Against The Wind

Rising four years r/w another typical breed outline with plenty of fore-chest on show and mature proportionate head with serious expression correct clean lozenge shaped eyes with complimentary colour and well placed. Ribcage well rounded clean and sprung with good length muscled slightly arched loins good depth of body no excessive skin on show. Strong bone another worthy champion with excellent true hind action though I preferred the reach and ease of forward movement of the winner on the day RCC. Congratulations.

Ten years black blanket tri does not look his age brimming with solid substance well muscled overall presented in excellent smooth dense coat and condition. Splendid breed angulation throughout super head proportions and finish with dark coloured eye pleasingly set and lozenge shaped full open nostrils on display. Powerful neck of moderate length clean without excess of dewlap. Firm level back still as a veteran pleasing tail set and carriage mature well rounded very muscled hindquarters. BV later shortlisted in veteran hound group. Congratulations.

Litter sister to PD winner r/w similar free flowing profile mover with forward reach and driving rear action head developing nicely unexaggerated and proportionately feminine with ears of balanced length strong moderate reach of neck good bone well padded and knuckled feet firm level back. Muscled hindquarters thick lengthy stern pleasingly set and flagged.

2.  CRUICKSHANK - Culsalmond Diamond Bling

Seven months r/w I considered this promising puppy to present with stronger bone and firmer feet than the winner though head needs to develop and eye rims tighten at present in my opinion. Good spring of ribcage with width across the loins super dense coat and texture for a young puppy. Thick tail well set another exhibit up on the leg good to see some clearance on show. Both promising puppy bitches.

1.  BAILEY - Chique To Chique A Story With A Tail For Longmynd

Thirteen months the best oblong breed outline and free flowing mover in the class in my opinion. Solid well constructed crook front with fore-chest on show strong bone large compact feet well padded level broad back tail well set correct fully rounded unexaggerated spring of ribcage. Feminine head and expression skull to muzzle balanced typically shaped without snipiness of muzzle correct parallel head planes and slight stop nostrils full and open. Her coat quality was the exceptional feature dense smooth and close fitting skin jacket free from excessive looseness. 

2.  MCLEAN - Lauralee Dreams Of Magic At Stookewood

Rising sixteen months r/w another young bitch presented in first class coat and condition lovely smooth feel and texture similar well formed solid typical crook front and equally appealing head qualities calm expression slight stop correct head planes preferred her strength and length of neck over the winner but considered her a tad long in body overall for me and not as settled on the move as the winner. Presented in fit muscled toned body condition without excess of weight thick tapering stern flagged well on the move standing on strong bone and the best of large well padded and knuckled feet.

1.  HIRST & HIRST & HIRST - Diheath Tinsel At Kejana

Nineteen months r/w the most pleasing head dark eye colour set and shape in the class eye-rims tighter than others present feminine lean foreface skull moderately wide at the brows strong bone and pasterns feet nicely sized and full thick pads. Best crook front on show in my opinion no excess skin present powerfully muscled fully rounded hindquarters. Sound and true front and rear on the move.

2.  GREEN -  Becky V Grunsven At Braithwell TAF

Rising seventeen months r/w attractive dark pigmentation eye-rims presently a tad open I considered and not quite the front construction of the winner for me. Excellent solid body condition pleasing strength and moderate length of neck excellent flowing smooth profile mover and a head finish I preferred over that of the winner but longer in body for true overall balance in my view.

Rising two years r/w solidly built with true substance clean oblong outline good depth of body ribcage well sprung with length powerful and broad across the loins. Feminine head and expression pleasing eye colour lozenge shape and set though ears a tad long in my opinion but head nicely proportioned overall with wide open nostrils. Powerful muscled hindquarters sound mover typical thick tail well set and flagged RCC. Congratulations.

2.  ARMSTRONG & ARMSTRONG - Lauralee Magic Image

Rising sixteen months lovely free active happy mover good head proportions if would prefer a bit more strength in the muzzle area for me excellent solid crook front well boned and set large firmly padded feet knuckled up strong and moderate length of neck cleanly set into correctly placed shoulders. Wide across the loins deep second thighs on show the best mover in the class in my opinion on the day. For me she lacked the bone quality and carried more loose skin than the first placed but overall presents as a truly typical basset exhibit.

3.  HAMPTON - Astra V Grunsven At Bassluxe (Imp NLD)

1.  CUDLIP - Harvidene La Bambola

Two years eight months r/w a close decision between these two bitches the winner had the weaker headed of the two in my opinion but her dark eye colour shape and set was very attractive as was her solid body substance and active outgoing nature. For me she offered the firmer crook front standing and moving and presented a free flowing ground covering profile action with stern well set and raised complimented by correct head carriage. She also excelled in muscled well rounded full hindquarters and a dense smooth coat with supple skin covering. 

2.  ARCHER - Roamanbay Rebellious Flame

Five years two months r/w presented in heavier body condition than the winner and not holding quite the top-line of the winner standing or moving in my opinion. She remained a sound mover throughout with excellent strong quality bone and the best of large well knuckled feet notable strong at the neck and shoulders with the advantage of full maturity. Excellent well sprung ribcage with length of ribbing pleasing fullness and length of skull which carried through to neatly tapering muzzle.

Seven and a half r/w active energetic veteran unexaggerated appearance very clean lines to oblong outline nicely balanced and proportionate level height at withers and hindquarters correct underline not revealing her years distinctive kennel type with an attentive focused temperament calm affectionate disposition on show. Mature feminine head attractive dark eye colour lozenge shaped and well set ears of good length correctly placed and supple solid front well constructed strong bone supported on the very best of large well knuckled feet fully padded with no excess skin on show overall. Super level broad back slightly arched loins powerfully muscled and wide hocks well let down and set slightly under hindquarters super length of thick tapering tail well flagged on the move. Moved soundly with effortless determination for a veteran pleased to award her the bitch CC. Congratulations.
