My thanks again to Samantha and Ron the wonderful stewards on the day. Thank you also to the lovely exhibitors who entered your beautiful Sussex a joy for me to assess every one. Bites are becoming a bit flaky and need watching, often on some of the best exhibits today but it has to be the overall picture for me when placing. I would have like more evidence generally of gold predominating in coats on the day but I think the breed is in a good place with numbers on the up in the showring which has to be good news. Exhibitors do so well flying the flag for this delightful vulnerable breed.

1.  MARSTON - Moel Ysgyfarnogod

Fourteen months dog lovely headed young dog excellent fullness to muzzle nicely padded full open nostrils fit condition and with excellent body substance covering ribcage correctly sprung reaching well back. Strong bone and hocks feet well padded strong long neck head and tail carriage notably typical. Powerful muscled hindquarters with deep second thighs a sound true mover BSB. Congratulations.

2.  CONEY - Mynydd Manod

Litter sister to the winner a bit longer in body than her brother and feeling the heat on the day but most attractive golden tints to coat notably on her head with full frill on show desirable breed type without exaggeration strong muscled hindquarters typical tail carriage not quite the top-line finish of the winner for me.

1.  HIPGRAVE - Eald Harvest Moon

Eight months impressive masculine puppy well up to size muzzle length to skull length typically proportioned with golden shading ears moderately low set very pleasingly constructed overall. A happy handful for his owner to show good body condition for his age with strongly muscled hindquarters firm across the loins with width on show sound mover when settled BP. Congratulations.

Twelve months I wouldn't want him any bigger but balanced overall outline excellent angulation throughout without exaggeration and a very sound mover fore and aft. Masculine head slightly curved skull small indent plenty of depth of brisket already strong bone running through pasterns to nicely padded rounded feet. Golden tinge to head colouring a functional workmanlike build active strong appearance with thick well set tail strong muscled hindquarters.

Eighteen months another super mover though little roll on show on the day promising well developed balanced head soft expression fairly large ears correct set full open nostrils attractive full frill on show with leg featherings present. Excellent moderate ribbing spring with length powerful across strong loins firm level top-line good body condition with no back waistiness on show. Desirable head and tail carriage just pacing slight when not at his natural speed.

1.  CLARKE - Florry's Boy Big Phil JW

Three years grand breed type energetic active presence with true breed roll on the move pleasing for masculine size strength of bone large knuckles and hocks on substantial build with true substance. Wide masculine skull full slightly padded muzzle clearly defined stop frowning brows open full nostril and copious attractive neck frill. Typical body proportions height to length giving correct overall balanced size and outline lovely depth of body and firm underline though his solid front with freedom of low movement is his standout feature for me. Very well presented thick tail set low powerful rounded hindquarters with deep second thighs abundant coat softly textured with moderate feathering. For me a lovely Sussex dog coming to his best CC & BOB. Congratulations.

2.  ALDERSON - Meggamooch Yesterday

Rising two and a half years finer in head finish at present than the winner for me though very delightful expressive eyes hazel colour pleasingly sized and shaped true firm top-line held well on the move excellent breed type fit body condition powerful across the loins. Displaying a tad excess coat in front for me but presented better in dentition than the winner.

1.  BRADBURY & PRESTON - Sh Ch Harasteorra Big Bear JW

Four and a half years the best mover in the entry with true roll holding top-line on the move low action with drive. Mature balanced masculine outline super head propotions typical frowning expression pleasing hazel eye colour shape and set beautifully presented without excess of body condition or coat. True substance on show correct ribbing the best of strong bone large knuckles and hocks well set desirable gold coat colour predominating just flying his thick tail rather on the day detracting from the overall picture on the move for me RCC. Congratulations.

2.  PENNEMAN & WAKEFIELD - Bel Sh Ch / Lux Ch Norriss Northern Mafia

Five years four months I loved the mature head and expression on this exhibit so typical with frowning expression stop and fullness of muzzle coupled with correct width and shape of skull. Solid body substance throughout level firm top-line good length of strong neck excellent construction throughout notably at shoulders with low sweeping unhurried movement tail set low and correctly carried. For me not displaying quite the coat finish of the winner on the day.

Seven and a half months a raw puppy with nice tight clean eye rims pleasingly coloured eye correctly set and shaped proportionate head with soft expression excellent strong bone close rounded feet body well ribbed back delightful kind disposition sound on the move, promising.

Fourteen months litter sister to special beginners winners like them possessing the most attractive golden coat tints on show very typical feminine head and soft expression but it was her sound true movement which won her the class. Attractively coated and feathered ears typically set and sized another presented in excellent solid body condition without back waistiness or exaggeration good length of ribcage on show. 

2.  MERCER & THOMAS - Moel Wynion Of Stormacre

Litter sister I see to the winner not quite the head finish at present of the first placed I considered a brisk steady sound mover lovely set of shoulder and notable length of upper arm strong bone running through pasterns and the best of close well padded feet. Held her top-line level and firm on the move powerfully developing hindquarters a clean functional attractive breed outline.

Two years three months pleasing for balance and breed type a sound mover though I considered her rather lazy in action on the day. Attractive feminine head proportionate with kind breed expression from eyes hazel shaded nicely set and shaped good length and depth of ribcage strongly muscled hindquarters tail low set. Excellent solid forward angulation and well presented.

2.  WAKEFIELD & WAKEFIELD - Una Des Terres De Beaulieu Avec Norriss (Imp) Fra

Three years two months a close decision between these two and better dentition on this bitch with positive driving action though a slight tendency to flick front feet up and coat a tad woolly I considered on the day. For me would prefer rather less body condition on show causing ribcage to be well rounded. An exhibit with most appealing head balance and expression and many desirable breed points.

Six years three months well built sturdy strong frame very well angulated throughout level top-line wide back plenty of body substance on show without exaggeration muzzle strong nostrils full pleasing hazel eye colour shape and set attractive full frill on show with depth of brisket strong bone running through pasterns feet close and firmly padded. Good reach of neck cleanly set into well placed shoulders feather without excess clean seal coat rather brisk on the move I considered but well worthy of the CC in this quality entry. Congratulations.

2.  MCANDREWS & HAGUE - Prytaneion Lakhesis

Four years seven months would have liked a tad more length of body and not quite the muzzle finish of the winner for me but a lovely bitch clearly coming into her best. Most typical proportionate skull nicely shaped ears well placed kind dark expression presented in solid firm body condition with strength across the loins correct moderate ribcage powerful hindquarters with deep second thighs really thick low set tail RCC. Congratulations.

Seven years eight months both these veterans possessed ample gold shading to their coats most attractive mature feminine head balanced with clear stop and frowning brows strong long neck well set into shoulders ribbing correct with length super body condition muscled without excess strong bone as a veteran close round feet. Lovely full frill on show delightful happy temperament BV. Congratulations.

2.  BRADBURY & PRESTON - Sh Ch Harasteorra Aphrodite

Seven years two months broad correctly moulded skull another kind expression from beautiful mature feminine head with delightful temperament. A tad down on front pasterns I considered compared to the winner presented in lovely coat feather gold tints and condition with powerful muscled hindquarters still on show.
