Shetland Sheepdog
I was grateful for the strong entry across all breeds despite the weather. It is an honour when exhibitors choose to enter under me and allow me the privilege of going over their dogs. All exhibits presented with correct bite and dentition in good condition; I did not encounter any poor mouths. My sincere thanks to my two ring stewards, who kept the ring running smoothly and remained cheerful throughout.
Every show is a learning experience for all involved, and I thoroughly enjoyed my day with you.
Class 283 PD/B (1,0)
1st: 412 NORRIS’ Ferngrove's Onyx: 8‑month‑old, well‑proportioned tricolour male of medium size with a balanced outline. Long, clean wedge head with skull and muzzle in parallel planes. Small ears set close together on top of the skull, tipping correctly. Dark almond eyes complement his sweet, intelligent expression. Neck arched and of good length. Level topline flowing into a gently sloping croup. Tail low set and carried correctly. Chest already of good depth with promising ribbing and tidy tuck‑up. Hindquarters with broad, well‑muscled thighs and parallel rear legs. Oval feet with tight, close toes. Harsh outer coat and in full coat today. Playful youngster who nevertheless kept up with his handler. Still growing into his frame, he moved well for his age. BPIB.
Class 284 JD/B (1,0)
1st: 409 JACKSON’s Kishdigra An Irish Blessing For Clairavelle (IKC): 14‑month‑old sable and white junior bitch of good proportion and a pleasing profile. Refined head with a defined stop and a tapering muzzle equal in length to the skull. Ears high set and carried correctly. Dark almond eyes and flat cheeks tapering smoothly into the muzzle give a gentle, sweet expression. Neck well arched, blending into a long, straight back. Tail set below a gently sloping croup. Forequarters moderate in width with well‑placed shoulders, good return of upper arm and straight, parallel forelegs. Well‑boned with a chest of good depth, well‑sprung ribs and moderate tuck‑up. Hindquarters well developed with moderate angulation. Harsh outer coat; still in adolescent coat change and will gain volume as she matures. Good overall construction and moved with drive and ground coverage.
Class 285 PGD/B (3,1)
1st: 411 NORRIS’ Ferngrove's Code Blue JW: Blue merle male just under 2 years old of masculine profile and good bone. Excellent overall proportion with skull and muzzle in balance and a noticeable stop. Muzzle of good strength, correct ear set and carriage, and dark, expressive eyes completing a masculine head. Muscular neck with an abundant mane leading into well‑laid shoulders and a forechest of moderate width. Forelegs well boned and parallel. Well‑sprung ribs and a strong, level back. Tail low set and of good length. Hindquarters muscular with strong thighs and moderate angulation. He rolls behind on the move, and when stacked his rear is wide with feet turning slightly out. Well-groomed and presented. Pleasing dog with breed type and quality coat; rear movement cost him the win. BD,RBOB.
2nd: 409 JACKSON’s Kishdigra An Irish Blessing For Clairavelle (IKC): Repeated entry.
3rd: 410 NORRIS’ Sabema Mayfly At Ferngrove
Class 286 OD/B (1,1) Abs: 0
1st: 408 BASTIANI & G JOHN’s Rannerdale She's A Lady Of Auberswell: Sable and white female just 3 months short of 4 years old with a clean outline and adequate bone. Skull and muzzle in correct balance, flat cheeks tapering into a rounded muzzle. Eyes slightly full but well set and moderately apart, with correctly tipped ears completing her expression. Muscular neck with mane flowing into a firm topline. Croup slopes gradually into a correctly set tail. Shoulders well placed with good return of upper arm. Chest deep with well‑sprung ribs. Forelegs straight and well boned; hindquarters well-muscled with moderate angulation. Oval feet well placed. In full coat and well presented. Well-tuned to her handler. Coming in a little toe‑in, yet she moves with good ground coverage and a firmer rear action. BB,BOB.
