DRIFFIELD CHAMPIONSHIP DOG SHOW SOCIETY FRIDAY 28TH AUGUST 2026

My thanks to the Officers and Committee for the offer to judge at your Golden Anniversary Show also, thanks to my stewards on the day who kept everything moving smoothly along and lastly to my exhibitors for their entry.  We were in the Margaret Everton Pavillion with a nice sized ring. 

SBD 3, 1
1st: RANSHAW, Miss K Conquell Curley Spencer At Reyakosa

21month fawn with good bone and substance.  Pleasing outline with correct length of neck, good topline and trace, short loin and well set twist.  Head good size with neat rose ears, black mask, dark round eyes.  Good front and rear with black nails, moved well around the ring. 

2nd: MCCAHILL, Mr Martin Nicobri That's Not My Name At Davarlin

11month fawn with a lot to like, considerably younger than 1 and needs some time to settle and mature. Warmer fawn that 1, nice outline, level topline, head and expression was spot on with good wrinkling, dark round eyes, neat button ears, well open nostrils.  Hard to access on the move due to excitement of the day and is still a puppy but from what I could assess constructurally sound.

1st: ARNOLD-STRONGE, Ms E Ch Pugalicious Hufflepuff At Snugglepug

8yr old fawn who stood out in the class.  Ample bone and substance with cobby outline he has a thick, slightly arched neck short firm back, good amount of ribbing, nice and short in the loin and high set twist. Masculine head with clearly defined wrinkles, expressive dark round eyes, good wide-open nostrils. Construction front and rear is sound with correct feet, black nails, moved at ease around the ring.  Best Veteran in Breed.

2nd: LYNN, Mr Roger & LYNN, Mrs Janet Briddish Country Roads

7yr old fawn, also well-constructed, enough bone and substance, nice outline, high set tail, nice head with good pigment.  Straight front, good topline standing and on the move.

3rd: MITCHELL, Miss A J Zobear Cowboy Taf

8month old black boy, good outline with level topline, high set double twist, pleasing head with good width of jaw, moderate dark round eyes, neat button ears, good mover front and rear and showed well. 

2nd: UPCHURCH, Mr Guy & UPCHURCH, Mrs Clare Pulchra Pokemon

Also 8month old fawn boy, good body with high set single twist, head of good size and neat button ears, good pigment and enough wrinkles.  Straight front and well angulated rear with good turn of stifle. Good coat condition, moved well.

10month old fawn that is short coupled, level topline, with nice head piece good pigment and wrinkles correct ear set in buttons, dark round eyes.  Straight front and good turn of stifle, neat feet.  Nice tight high set single twist to tail and lovely coat condition, shows with enthusiasm.  Best Puppy in Breed.

1st: REYNOLDS, Miss Hayley Croftren Genius Georgio

Competitive class with 1st and 2nd could have been placed the other way around on a different day.  Smart looking fawn with good overall construction honest all through.  Head is of good proportion good width of muscle with wide open nostrils, neck suitable for carrying his head well developed body front and rear quarters resulting in free sound movement, showed well.

2nd:  WATSON, Mrs C Roxmarr Right Black At Ya

Lovely black boy who drew my eye when he came into the class.  Overall outline is cobby, level topline, high set double curl.  Movement front and rear is sound and has enough bone for his age.  Head is masculine with large dark round eyes, neat button velvet ears, good wide-open nostrils, coat short single black coat, moved out with loose lead and showed well.

1st: MONK, Mr A & Mrs Z Roxmarr Grand Stand At Zoant

Very well-balanced young fawn dog of excellent type, presenting a pleasing outline and profile. He stood four-square, with a short, cobby body, multimum in parvo and good breadth of chest. His topline remained level both standing and on the move. Front and rear assemblies are of moderate length and well-constructed, enabling him to move soundly and true both coming and going. Coat soft, smooth and glossy. Head relatively large and in proportion to his body, with a relatively short, blunt, square muzzle. Dark, round eyes full of expression and fire; ears black, small, thin and of rose. Shown and handled to perfection, displaying an excellent rapport with his handler throughout. A worthy recipient of the RDCC.

2nd: WARD, Mrs E Felice Midnight In Paris

Clear fawn masculine male very different in type to 1.  Good bone and overall shape, good front and rear assembly, moved well.

1st: BYRNE, Miss C Milucksin Million Bucks

Sound fawn male who was a pleasure to go over. A typical Pug of good breed type, carrying excellent bone and substance throughout, the best boned dog of the day. Strong, muscular neck flowing into a firm, level topline and short, cobby body. Well-set tail with a desirable double curl. Masculine head with a very pleasing expression, excellent pigment, enhanced by correctly defined forehead wrinkling, moderately large round dark eyes and neat black ears. Square muzzle with well-open nostrils and good breadth of underjaw. Stood correctly both front and rear, with good feet and black nails. Moved soundly and true, both coming towards and going away, maintaining his shape and balance throughout.  Showed well for his handler.  It was my pleasure to award him his 1st DCC.

2nd: CAIRNS, Miss M Anzhela Scent Francis Jw

Another nice example of the breed whom I have judged before.  Fawn male that is smaller in type to 1.  Nice compact outline.  Neck of correct length, nice short back with firm topline, high set curl.  Pleasing head and expression, enough wrinkling to head without over exaggerating, square muzzle, width to lower jaw and well pigmented. Stands naturally and moved well front and rear.

3rd: MITCHELL, Miss A J Tangetoppen's Masterpiece (Imp Nor)

1st: TURNBULL, Mrs Nicola Ch Nicobri's Lord Of The Rings JW ShCEx OSW

Attractive fawn of good type, carrying sufficient bone and substance throughout. Nicely crested neck of correct length, providing balance and flowing into a level topline. Well-sprung ribs, short in coupling, and completed by a high-set tail with a single curl. Quality head with a masculine expression, round skull, and good breadth of underjaw. Forehead correctly wrinkled, complemented by moderately large dark eyes, large open nostrils, and neat button ears with excellent pigmentation. Stood on good feet with black nails. Moved soundly and true both coming towards and going away, maintaining his balance and outline throughout.

2nd: WALKER, Mr N Ch Afterglow Wild West Hero At Sunlea JW

Darker fawn than 1, and one whose overall type greatly appealed. He presented a pleasing outline with a compact, well-balanced frame. Good bone and substance throughout, with sufficient length of neck flowing into a level topline. Straight front and well-angulated rear quarters, giving a balanced appearance. Head relatively large and round with excellent pigmentation, black button ears, dark round eyes, good width of muzzle, and sufficient wrinkle to complete the picture. Moved well, maintaining his shape and balance both standing and on the move.

1st: COGAN, Mr Robert Sunlea Minnie The Minx

Attractive black female of 5½ years, presenting a very feminine outlook. She possesses a pleasing overall outline, with a level topline, well-laid shoulders, and sufficient length of neck to create a balanced picture. Her short, single, fine coat was presented in excellent condition and carried a healthy sheen. Sound in front and rear movement, she moved accurately both coming and going, standing on neat feet. Feminine head of correct proportions, with pleasing dark eyes, neat button ears, wide-open nostrils, and sufficient width of underjaw. Moved well, maintaining her balance and outline. Best Special Beginner’s.

1st: REYNOLDS, Miss Hayley Ch Judamie Glorious Gloria Of Croftren

Attractive 7-year-old fawn female, feminine throughout with an appealing side profile and pleasing head proportions. She presents a well-balanced outline, with a level topline, good length of neck, and overall balance. Front straight and true, complemented by well-sprung ribs and a compact body. Quality headpiece featuring a square muzzle, dark expressive eyes, neat button ears, and good open nostrils. Shown to advantage and carrying herself well throughout. 

2nd: MITCHELL, Miss A J Rosewitch Actually I'm It

9year-old fawn female whom I have judged on several previous occasions. She continues to present a pleasing overall shape and size, with sufficient length of neck flowing into a level topline. Her head is nicely rounded and complemented by large dark eyes, correctly carried rose ears, and sufficient wrinkle to enhance her expression. Shown in excellent rapport with her handler, she performed confidently.

1st:  ELLIS, Lady Amanda Eastonite Apex Queen

A lot to like in one so young. 8-month fawn.  She presents a pleasing outline, with a slightly arched neck flowing into a level topline and completed by a high-set single curl. Possessing good bone and substance for her age while retaining feminine features throughout. Her head is of correct proportions for her age, with neat button ears, dark round eyes, well-open nostrils, and good width of underjaw. Straight in front with neat feet, complemented by a well-angulated rear. Presented in excellent coat condition and gave a very promising overall impression.  A1 movement.  One to watch for the future.

2nd: FARRUGIA, Messers Nicholas & James Hazempugs Mary Rose Avec Cholas

Smaller than 1 and a richer apricot fawn in colour. A pleasing young female with a balanced outline and everything in proportion. She presents a level topline, straight front, and overall sound construction for her age. Her head is in keeping with her size, displaying good breed type, with dark round eyes and pleasing forehead wrinkle. Moved well, maintaining her balance and shape both coming towards and going away, giving a very promising overall impression.

11-month-old fawn with trace. Good overall size and outline, with appropriate bone and substance for her age. Straight front with good feet, a level topline, and a high-set single curl. Rear is well angulated.  Head is in proportion to her size, with black button ears, dark eyes, good width of lower jaw, and excellent pigment. Moved soundly both coming and going.

Fawn cobby female with a pleasing profile. Crested neck of correct length, giving overall balance. Short-backed with a firm topline, well-sprung ribs carried well back, and a high-set single curl. Feminine headpiece with black button ears, round dark eyes, large open nostrils, excellent underjaw, and good dark pigment. Stands straight in front with correct feet and black nails, together with sufficient breadth of chest. Sound, free movement both coming and going.

2nd: 812 MITCHELL, Mrs S Pigalle Cherry Geloto Cedilla

Compact fawn female with a straight front, level topline, and high-set single curl. Good forechest and body proportions, standing on neat feet. Pleasing head with lovely dark round eyes, excellent pigmentation, and a soft, feminine expression. Moved soundly and purposefully, showing well throughout.

3rd: 781 COULTER, Mrs Judith & COULTER, Mr Robin Roxmarr Maleficent By Blacobby

1st: 814 MITCHELL, Mrs S & CRUMP, Mrs Daphne Pigalle Absolute Cherry

Similar in quality to my second-placed Junior. Another fawn female, presented in excellent condition and shown hard and fit throughout. Nice and firm through the topline, well ribbed with ribbing carried well back, and a high-set single curl. Round skull with a square, relatively blunt muzzle, neat button ears, dark eyes, and well-opened nostrils. Moved excellently both coming and going. Presented in superb coat condition, the coat being soft, smooth, and short.

2nd: 828 RUTHERFORD, Miss G & RUTHERFORD, Mrs Catherine & R Mopszawawa's Wild Love With Potbelli JW

Different in type to my first-placed exhibit. Fawn female with a square outline and ample bone. Neck of correct length flowing into a short loin, with a high-set tail. Good straight front with sufficient width of chest and neat overall construction. Feminine head with neat button ears, dark round eyes, and a pleasing expression. Moved soundly and positively from all angles.

One of the strongest female classes of the day. This fawn female caught my eye from the moment she entered the ring. Possessing ample bone and substance, she presented a beautiful overall outline. Straight in front with good width of chest, complemented by a well-muscled rear and good turn of stifle. Feminine throughout, with a super outline, slightly arched neck, short back, level topline, and a high-set single curl. Presented in a plush, soft, short coat. Her head is one of her strongest features, with dark round eyes, good nose pad, well wrinkled, neat button ears, good width of muzzle, and excellent pigmentation. Moved with drive and purpose, showing to great advantage throughout. A worthy winner of the class and deserved recipient of the RBCC.

2nd: 789 EDDERY, Mr E & DAWSON-PAYNE, Ms J Judamie Le Magnifique JW

Another exhibit I admired from the moment she entered the ring. This fawn female presented a smart and balanced profile, with a pleasing overall outline. Soundly constructed throughout, she possessed a level topline, straight front, good feet, and a well-angulated rear. She moved freely and soundly, maintaining her shape on the move.

Her head was round and in proportion, with sufficient wrinkle, moderate dark eyes, well-opened nostrils, and good width of muzzle, all combining to give a pleasing expression.

The other outstanding female class of the day, providing plenty of depth in quality and making decisions far from easy. At just 16 months of age, this fawn female never put a foot wrong. From the moment she entered the ring, she commanded attention with her unmistakable presence and maintained that appeal throughout. She presented a beautiful outline, super coat condition soft short and beautifully presented. Level topline shown in hard condition, ample bone and substance, sufficient width of chest, a straight front, and neat feet, well split up toes complimented by black nails.

Her rear construction was equally impressive, being well angulated with a well-muscled second thigh and good turn of stifle. Feminine throughout, she possesses a sweet, soft expression enhanced by lustrous dark round eyes of moderate size. A broad nose with well-opened nostrils, black velvet button ears, good width of underjaw, lovely wrinkle, and excellent pigmentation completed a most attractive head. She moved with purpose, steady movement, and effortless reach around the ring on a loose lead and was a pleasure to watch from every angle.

BCC (believe her 2nd), BOB and later went on to win Group 2.

2nd: 782 COWIE, Miss M I Ch Afterglow Esther La Vista Megipugi JW

Competitive class, with another quality fawn female. At four years old, she was presented in excellent show condition, carrying a plush coat that enhanced her overall appearance. Well boned throughout, with a nicely crested neck of correct length flowing into a level topline, well-sprung ribs, and a high-set single curl. Straight in front with sufficient width of chest, while her well-angulated rear construction enabled her to move true both coming and going.

She possesses a quality feminine head with neat black button ears, good wrinkle, excellent pigmentation, moderately large dark round eyes, and wide-open nostrils. She moved soundly and positively for her handler, showing well throughout and making a strong impression in a highly competitive class.
