Thank you for being sporting with my placings.  There are still too many whose heads do not fit the standard, ie not being slightly smaller in proportion to the body and there were a few exhibits where round cat feet were creeping in instead of the hare foot that is a unique feature of the breed.  The bitches are definitely stronger in quality than the dogs and I was pleased with my bitch line up.  It concerned me regarding the lack of depth of quality in the males as these are your stud dogs both now and in the future.  Although I was pleased with most of my placings in the males.  Heavy coats and flat heads were penalised I'm afraid, but thankfully these were not in abundance.

1st: 1382 BREEZE AND STYLES, Ms and Ms H Ch Paralde Little Bredy With Hilsar

At nearly 13 yrs of age this shaded sable belied his years on the move.  He had the classic head proportions with the slight dome.  The darkest of eyes.  Correct ear set with fringing and lift.  A decent lay of shoulders and return of upper arm that led down into straight legs with a slight bow.  A level topline which he kept on the move.  Good tail set, moderate angulation to this rear with low set hocks. Tight hare  feet.  Well coated.  He moved out positively covering the ground with his easy front extension,  Moved true coming and going.

2 10 mth old gold sables, who well coated for their age.  Preferred the head proportions of no2, but he stood bum high when stacked.
1st: 1408 MORTON, Mrs L M Linsdown Gibran

Decent mouth, enough stop, correct ear set, strong muzzle, but felt his head was not in proportion and a little large.  The breed asks for a head small in proportion to the body and this boy's head felt rather on the large size. Ok front, level top line enough rear angulation.  More positive on front action than 2 which won him the class.
2nd: 1420 STEED, Mr L & STEED, Mrs A E Gianni Its Ezra

He had a well proportioned head with a slight dome, but would have preferred a slightly stronger muzzle, bite ok. Correct ear set. Decent enough front assembly, enough bow to front, he had better hare feet than 1.  Well angulated rear.  Not as positive on the move as 1.

4 yr old whose head was larger all over than 1s.  Would have preferred more width to his muzzle and he had a tendency to show his teeth.  would have preferred a better lay of shoulder, as he dipped slightly behind the shoulder,  decent back end and good tail set.  Moved out ok but did not have the balance of 1

Class 697 OD (6 Entries) Abs: 1
1st: 1389 DAVIES, Ms Carol Ann Ch Bowcara Be My Guest JW

5yr old sable who fills the eye.  He is all male without being coarse,  He has the classic head proportions that I was looking for, with a slight dome, correct eye shape and the darkest of eyes,  enough width to his muzzle which had been sadly lacking in other exhibits.  He had the best front assembly of the class with a good lay of shoulders and return of upper arm leading to straight legs with the correct bow.  Level topline, well ribbed up, short loin.  Well angled rear.  Correct coat with shawl.  Moved true coming and going.  I had awarded him the RCC as a youngster and he has now matured into a well balanced male.  Was pleased to award him the CC this time and BOB
2nd: 1406 MORTON, Mrs L M Ch Linsdown Jai

5yr old red sable whose head is also well  proportioned, but felt it was a little heavy in appearance.  Correct ear set with fringing.  Deep chest, level topline, good tail set, well angled rear.  When he settled he moved out ok but slightly wide in front.  Considered him for the RCC but he was giving his handler a hard time and not as settled on the move, which cost him the award.

I fell in love with this 10mth old shaded sable with black mask.  She has attitude!  Correct head proportions, with slight dome to skull, enough width to muzzle, correct ear set.  Decent lay of shoulders and return of upper arm, straight legs, correct bow, hare feet.  Level topline, well coated for age.  Would have preferred a slightly higher tail set.  Decent proportioned rear.  Once she settled she moved out well coming and going.  In the challenge for best puppy, she was more settled on the move and that with her overall proportions I had no hesitation in awarding her Best Puppy

Class 701 JB (6 Entries) Abs: 0
1st: 1412 SHORT, Mrs L Malia Miss Dior

This 12 month old  shaded sable had the best front assembly of the class.  She looked a little short of leg in the long grass, but once on the table her proportions were correct.  A correct proportioned head which was small in proportion to her body.  Dark pigent, correct eye shape, dark eyes.  Correct ear set with enough lift.  Straight legs, correct bow, hare feet, level topline, well angled rear, low set hocks.  In good coat for age.  Once she settled moved out true coming and going,  Considered her for the RCC.
2nd: 1417 SIMPER, Miss H J & SCOATES, Miss ELISABETH & SCOAT Clydum Country Lass

This 13 mth old had left her coat at home, but it didn't detract from her overall balance.  Another one whose head proportions were correct.  She is a well constructed bitch, who moved out well coming and going and was unlucky to meet 1 in good form.

2 yr old sable who was not in the best jacket.  Having said that she has a well proportioned head with the correct slight dome and dark eyes, would have preferred a little more width to her muzzle.  Decent lay of shoulders and return of upper arm, straight legs, hare foot, correct bow to legs,  Level topline, well angled rear, correct tail set.  Once she settled  moved out true coming and going.  Lost out to the male for Best Special Beginners as he was more together,
2nd: 1397 IRVINE, Mrs Linda & IRVINE, Mr Derek & REID, Mrs J Tulibell Monty's Girl

3yr old sable.  I felt that there was too much of her.  Her head looked heavy overall.  she had good width to muzzle.  Her front assembly was not as good as 1's.  Level topline, decent back end.  Not as positive on the move as one.

1st: 1423 THOMSON, Miss Sheila R M & PRENTICE, Mr Ian Crockerne Love To Talk with Tamrae3 yr old sable bitch who won the class with her more positive movement. Would have preferred a slightly longer muzzle to totally finish the picture, but it had the correct width to give the correct expression. Decent lay of shoulders, straight front, correct bow, hare feet.  Level topline, decent back end, good tail set.  Once she had settled she moved out positively both coming and going.

2nd: 1384 CAMPBELL, Mrs P Tulibell bad habits JW

2yr old sable balanced bitch.  Just felt that 1 had the slightly better lay of shoulders.  She was close up to 1 and is well put together.  Moved out true coming and going.  She was unlucky to have come up against 1 in form.

Wasn't surprised to find that my first 2 were from repeat matings.  They are very similar in type size and construction.  Both have classic heads with enough stop and width to muzzle.  Good fronts, well angled rears and in good coat,  both moved out well and were true coming and going.  Just felt that 2 had a slightly lower tail set and 1 was that bit more positive on the move.
