Thank you to the committee for the invitation to judge the breed i love.

In the current climate of show entries falling, I was very happy with my entry, especially as it was a weekday. The quality of exhibits did not disappoint either and i was thrilled to watch my Best of Breed win her 10th working group.

With many breeds entries falling, both in the show ring and also in registrations, it can be quite concerning when we come to realise that many of the  breeders we have known for consistently breeding quality dogs are now becoming fewer, and we are observing more dogs from unknown ‘breeders’, who do not perhaps understand how to ‘read’ the pedigrees of the dogs they are breeding with, or have the mentors that many of us had the privalege to learn from.  This in my view is leading to a ‘lesser’ quality exhibit appearing more frequently, and some traits that many breeders have worked hard to improve are being undone very quickly through lack of this knowledge. This, if ‘we’ are not careful, could lead to quality being overtaken by mediocre.

That said, I was more than happy that the standard of exhibit & quality was the order of the day today, and I was not disappointed.

Puppy Dog (1 entry, 1 Abs)

Jinior Dog (NO ENTRIES)

Post Graduate Dog (NO ENTRIES)

Limit Dog (3 Entries Abs: 0)
1st: LYONS & GRUBB, Snowfordhill Nimrod

A tall young man, who still has some maturing to do to give us the finished picture. Masculine broad head, with length to his square muzzle and defined stop. Expressive lovely tight clean dark eyes, excellent mouth, with good length to his lips without being too much. An overall picture of benevolence. Strong neck, with length & decent shoulders. He carries plenty of bone in his large frame, with straight legs & lovely tight feet. He has depth to his chest & length to body with ribs that go well enough back. I would prefer a bit more width to his chest & a better turn of stifle, some of this may come as he matures. Once he settled & found his pace, he moved steadily & i was pleased to award him the RDCC.

2nd: JEFFRIES, Mrs Marisa & BELL, Mrs Rita Bellfries Paco Rabanne

A dog i last saw as a puppy. He has changed quite a bit since. Not as tall as the class winner. Another with a clean expressive masculine head, with excellent dentition and eyes. Enough length to neck,  Excellent bone, deep chest, lovely tight feet, Shorter in back length & Shorter flews than 1. Moved well, just preferred the overall picture of the taller class winner.

3rd: WRIGHT, Mrs Katherine & Mr Steven Tombears Mister Barista

Open Dog (2 Entries Abs: 1)
1st: MACDONALD, MR M W and Mrs K J Ch CHEDHAM TIMES ARE A CHANGIN

I have admired & awarded this dog well in the past, and  I loved this dog on his head alone. Masculine, Broad skull with correct stop, strong broad muzzle good teeth & correct drop to his lip. Not the tallest by any means, but well upto standard. Despite being heavier boned, he moves very soundly, and covers the ground effortlessly with reach and drive. Awarding him the DCC was a pleasure, unfortunately he was pipped for BOB by the BCC winner who outmoved him today.

SBB (1 Entries) Abs: 0)
1st:  GRANTHAM, Mr Aaron Clarke Trixie Morley Among LakeGiants

Pleasing smooth girl who has height & length to body. Feminine head, clean, dark expressive eyes &  lovely teeth.  Enough width & depth to chest. Ample bone for her frame. Moved out well. Pleased to see her take Special Beginners Group 4.

Veteran Bitch (1 Entries Abs: 0)
1st: JEFFRIES, Mrs Marisa & BELL, Mrs Rita Ch Bellfries Smooth Jazz

At nearly 8 years old, this smooth girl is a picture. Her young handler & her are in harmony, & their partnership really shines. Her classic head is expressive & benevolent. Lovely dentition, clean eyes. She has both length & depth to body & excellent ribbing. She carries her tall, muscular frame very well,  and moves effortlessly, if not just a little slower these days, as one would expect. Awarding her the RBCC was a pleasure as was BVIB.

Post Graduate Bitch (3 Entries Abs: 1)
1st: DREWE, Miss Sophia Chedham Another Level for Angelmoon

Upcoming 4yr old Smooth girl. Tall with ample bone for her large frame. Head of good proportions, broad muzzle, good teeth Clean eyes & well placed ears. She has length to her muscular neck. Length to her body with decent ribbing and enough depth to her chest, although i would like a little more width to complete the picture. Well bodied throughout and muscular. She moved out well, however, was a little distracted at times by her handler.

2nd GRANTHAM, Mr Aaron Clarke Trixie Morley Among LakeGiants (see SBB)

Limit Bitch (2 Entries Abs: 1)
1st:  OREILLY, Mrs Beverley Jane Fantagira wielkopolski bernadyn at STREILLYS

2yr old girl, in excellent condition. Decent enough head, not quite typical, but good all the same, nothing overdone. Dark eyes & lovely teeth. Enough drop of lip. She has a lovely front assembly, good bone, straight legs &  well up on her feet.  Moved very well.

Open Bitch (1 Entries Abs: 0)
1st: DEEGAN, Mr Brendan & GRAINGER, Ms A Ch Chandlimore heart beat

3 year old, outstanding girl. She oozes type & quality. Her complete frame is so well conditioned & muscular which shows in her effortless movement.

Beautiful headpiece, expressive eyes & excellent teeth. Her overall stature shows her outstanding qualities, to which one simply cannot put in an amount of words. I could not get past her in the challenge to award her the BCC & BOB. To see her win her 10th group was exciting. Thank you for bringing her.
