Having first judged Spinone's in 1983, this appointment was a long time coming and full of anticipation for a number of reasons. I remember in those early days a number of Italian Imports coming in and were “Foreign” in appearance to the mostly “British” Gundogs that were popular at that time. The breed did not follow standard construction rules and finding your way around the expansive Italian Standard that came with these dogs was quite challenging.

However,  that being said they quickly became a popular breed for their beautiful heads, glorious coats and temperaments. 

I think the breed has become more  moderate over the years and certainly sounder on the move, save for a few exceptions. It was in fact suggested to me that I would find it hard to find a sound moving Spinone. Nothing could be farther from truth in the entry I received today., I found movement true and sound with good forward reach in may exhibits

1st: 1617 ROSSITER, Mrs L Inostricani Time Will Tell A well balanced puppy, free and true on the move. Ha s balanced head, lean in skull, oval in shape, not too deep in muzzle and good finish. Has good length to ribbing, slightly tucked up. Coat course and developing facial hair. BP


Class 889 PGD (1 Entries) Abs: 0
1st: 1603 HOPE, Mrs J Testaverde Selwyn Flogit A little heavy in skull, eyes well shaped, not too round with good colour. True in front, well filled, adequate front angulation, well ribbed back. Broad across the croup, hocks well let down. well padded feet. Moved out soundly.

Class 890 LD (2 Entries) Abs: 0
1st: 1595 COLLETT, Mr I Stagerun Matteo  Neck faorley short and set well into shoulder, chest deep and well ribbed back. Topline falling behind shoulder and rising over croup, tail set on well. Lacked a little in turn of stifle. Moved true.
2nd: 1591 CAYFORD, Mrs Jane & HANSCOMBE, Mr Luke Diggmere Winwood Ranger. I found him a little narrow all through at the moment. He has a pleasing head with good balance, strong neck, good length to rib. Moved with good reach in front.


Class 891 OD (3 Entries) Abs: 0
1st: 1607 KNOWLES, Miss S Ann & KNOWLES, Mrs Sue & GLEN, Ms Sh Ch Bessalone Peaky Blinders. Presented a lovely clean outline. balanced head, not too deep in stop rising to lean oval skull, deep in muzzle, lovely kind expression, ears set on low. Short strong neck set well into well angulated shoulder. Chest deep with adequate spring, loin well muscled, long sweeping stifle, hocks well let down. He is a pleasure to watch on the move with his long easy stride. He has a harsh coat. CC
2nd: 1612 LITTLEMORE, Miss C Sh Ch Inostricani Bell Ragazzo Via Krismoor JW Liked his head shape and balance, neck strong and sightly arched. Could have a little longer length of shoulder. Chest deep and well rounded croup with good set of tail. moved with a long stride.
3rd: 1594 COLLETT, Mr I Stagerun Kestrel

1st: 1596 DAVIES, Miss T L Wess Del Montecani (imp Ita) Good front assembly with well developed sternum, topline unexagerrated. has a lovely eye and expression. A little down on pastern. 


Class 895 MPB (3 Entries) Abs: 0
1st: 1615 REYNOLDS, Miss Alison Fioralba Crikey O'riley  At 7 months, so composed on the move, good overall shape and deep well sprung ribs with good width across the hindquarters. Has a lovely head and expression. 
2nd: 1600 DAVIES, Mrs Barbara & DAVIES, Mr Mark Cartrefyspin Oren Sunburst Growing nicely, good return of upper arm bringing elbows well under body. Well ribbed back. Attractive head with low set ears. Lovely feet.

1st: 1616 ROSSITER, Mrs L Inostricani Blossom correct overall shape and balance with deep chest and length of rib, excellent bone and feet. Liked the length of muzzle and balance with evidence of diverging planes. Free on the move.
2nd: 1598 DAVIES, Mrs Barbara & DAVIES, Mr Mark Cartrefyspin Oren Blossom Liked her head, gently rising over stop to lean skull. A little loose in eye at the moment. Chest deep, long in rib and good length to stride on the move.

1st: 1610 KRUGLOW, Ms Philippa Stowledge Scilla At Incantevole A really pleasing youngster, , balanced on the move maintaining a correct topline. Well laid shoulder and excellent return of upper arm and wide across the croup.

1st: 1597 DAVIES, Miss T L Montecani Twist By Rivanna.  Deep in chest, overall good shape gently rising over her croup and tail set on fairly low and carried well. Well angulated forehand, moving wih a long true stride.
2nd: 1602 HASTINGS, Mr Alexander & HASTINGS, Mrs Kathryn Scodinzolare Paola Del Feriiia
3rd: 1593 COLDWELL, Mrs L A Lucoru Perpetual Spring Good length to ribcage, firm in loin and gentle rise over croup. Well developed in front. Lovely furnishings.

1st: 1601 FRY, Ms Jean Elizabeth Stagerun Skylark A shade on the heavy side for me and a little short in neck. Has deep well sprung ribs, good front angulation and wide well muscled hindquarters. Movement sound with good reaching stride.
2nd: 1614 MORTIMER, Mrs L Scodinzolare Philomen She has a lovely head, finish to muzzle with prominent nose. Ribs deep and loin well developed,. Topline a little exaggerated for me

Good depth to chest matched with correct leg length giving overall balance. She has good forehand, length of upper arm, deep ribs, wide powerful hindquarters, all allowing he free effortless movement with long reaching stride. Presented in the best of coats, coarse and good finishings. CC & BOB
